Refreshed 2019 Jeep Cherokee is No Longer Ugly and Gets New Turbo Engine

Quote:
Jeepís controversially styled Cherokee compact SUV has been reinvigorated for the upcoming model year. Toned-down styling, fresh features, and a new turbocharged engineare a few of its highlights.

Debuting at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, this new Cherokeeís front end is much more conventional looking. Gone are the narrow, alligator-like headlamps found on todayís version. Available bi-LED projector lights are encapsulated in larger housings that look similar to whatís found on other Jeeps. Additionally, the front fascia is new, as is the hood, which is made of lightweight aluminum.

Having owned an 85', 87', and 01' XJ, there is no way I would buy a stretched Dodge Dart with the Cherokee badge. It's not ugly, it's just not a Cherokee to those of us who owned the originals.

My Mother likes her 2015 Trailhawk, after the initial first 6 months where she had about 4 recalls and/or issues that needed to be addressed. I'll tell you what, that small 6 pentastar putting out 271 hp just flies down the road.

An XJ, it definitely is not. It's a car based compact SUV in which every company makes a similar product. Is it ugly or a bad vehicle... I can't say. It's made for the primarily female/grocery getter market, not a hardcore 4x4 market.

Huge reason i bought a 4 door JK is because my first two vehicles were XJs.I agree, this new one is just not a Cherokee.
