February 29th Ocala National Forest ride

When: Saturday February 29th
Where: Ocala National Forest
Meetup: CircleK corner of 19 & 42 in Altoona
386GreyWanderer has a nice selection of forest roads and trails. This is stock Jeep friendly, but there is a possibility of Ocala pinstripes (Scratches from brush).

If I don't break anything at Jeepin' with Judd again, I'll try to go. We had a blast last time.

Exclamation Ride update!!!

Hey everyone...giving a ride planning update.

First off, I want to be clear on this. YOU WILL GET PIN STRIPING There are a few trails that are pretty narrow. So if you are worried about scratches on your jeep or soft top windows, this is not the ride to go on.

Now, an overview

Meeting/Start/Finish point: 9:30AM...Kangaroo Express, Altoona. Coordinates 28.96648,-81.64795. Corner of SR19 and SR42. Roll out at 10:00AM.

Distance: This is a long trail ride....basically 70 miles off pavement and about 82 total miles.

Estimated time: 6 to 7 hours.

Trail types: Sugar sand, some mud, small water crossings, hills, forest roads.

Lunch: We will stop for lunch, so be sure to bring one.

Radios: We will be operating on CB - channel 4

The ride will basically be in 3 parts. Part 1 - Paisley area to lunch break. Part 2 - South of Pine Castle Bombing Range to "play stop." Part 3 - West Edge to the South.

The Paisley area, we will be on the power lines for a few miles. There are several very large mud/water holes. I will have routes around the big ones, but those brave enough. Make sure you have a buddy!

The play stop is an area with several small hills to climb. There is also a water hole...of unknown depth and some perimeter trials. I figured we will spend about an hour at that stop.

See everyone in a couple of weeks!!

Thanks for the route recon and planning. This will be a great ride, and a stock Jeep will be able to make it.

If you're planning to join us for this ride, please post up in this thread. Just so we have an idea of how many jeeps. Thanks
