Florida Trip

Hello,

In October, I will be taking a trip with the Family from Missouri to the Clearwater area, specifically I think we will be Staying in Madeira Beach. We are driving our wrangler unlimited down, because one of the things that we talked about before buying it was wanting to go cruising in Florida with the top off. Hoping the weather will be good while we are there.

Can anyone tell me any good jeep sites/locations/trails that we could hit while we are there? Obviously since I have a 1200 mile drive back home at the end of the week we are there, so I am not looking for any hard wheeling, just something fun to do while we are there. Is there any place you can drive along the beach? I've only been down to FL a couple times so I really don't know what kind of options there are.

Thanks!

I'm jealous of you, I love Florida. The Keys are my favorite place in FL, but Tampa/St. Pete/Clearwater is up there too.

I don't know about wheeling or even taking it on the beach, but I would recommend stopping in Crystal River either on the way there or the way back. If you're going in late October you may be right at the beginning of Manatee season.

Snorkeling the head springs of Crystal River or Rainbow River is a great experience in itself, but swimming with the Manatees is something you should definitely make time for.

I haven't been yet personally, but from reading others posts about it, it looks like the trails there are fun.

Hit out these guys for local spots The Jeep Krewe Inc

and use www.tripadvisor.com for your local spots to check out.

For food I highly recommend Lenny’s Restaurant | Fact: Lenny’s has the best breakfast in Clearwater and you can thank me later.

Jeeptoberfest is the 14-16th should you be down that weekend. Ocala national forest also has a LOT of trails & Hardrock is a pretty cool offroad park. Can't speak for the rest of the state, but I believe most of your beach driving can be found on the northeast side of the state (Fernandina, St. Aug, Flagler, Daytona, etc.)

I will miss that by a few days. Too bad that would be cool.

I highly recommend checking out siesta key beach. 1.5 hr +/- drive from clearwater, but so worth it.
