How much was your deposit?

I am close to ordering my first Jeep and the deposit the dealership I am working with in South Florida wants a non-refundable $2,000 down because its a factory order.

For those of you who already did this, is that the same experience that you guys went through or did you pay something different.

Please let me know, thanks for sharing!

I would say that's a BIG NO! Which dealer? Unless you're ordering something crazy, even if you don't take delivery, they should be able to sell it.

When I ordered my Jeep the dealer said he did not want a deposit, to much paper work. He said if I don't come get it in a reasonable amount of time he would sell it in a flash.

plenty of them up here in the Tampa Bay area that aren't going to ask you for a deposit.

dang....

I had no deposit required until I asked and the guy said...umm, yeah....I guess....how's $500 sound (refundable)....AND they gave me a $60,000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit to drive for the 6 weeks I was supposed to be waiting for the order (it ended up taking about 4)....all with NO paperwork. We shook hands, they handed me the keys and I drove off...

The craziest part of it all - when I went to pick up the Willys, they had no idea I even had their Grand Cherokee....I should have offered to "trade it in"

The rest of the story is my sales guy was fired shortly after making me the deal...., so.....I guess it was a bit unusual... ha ha...

Absolutely NOT!!! when i factory ordered my 2017, i only had to leave a $500 deposit and it was refundable. This is due to the popularity of the Jeep and the dealer not worried about be able to sell the Jeep if decided not to purchase. I recommend you find a different dealer ASAP!!
I used to work for a Car Dealer several years ago, and tactics like that are shady to the core and tell alot about the integrity of the dealership, i wouldn't use them for anything as it is clear they are only out for your money and will do anything to get it.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I am working with a dealer in Orlando with $500 refundable deposit. the only reason I was even working with the one down here besides it being local is that I bought my wife's grand cherokee there and got a really good deal, which is weird why they seem to be taking advantage of me after the fact? They lost my business....
