Palm Beach and Broward JEEPERS!

hello all!

just wanted to get a thread started, maybe a gang too, for southern palm beach and northern Broward.

Personally, Im in Boca Raton, 24 Year old Real Estate Professional and my Girlfriend is 21yo student, we are pretty normal haha

this is my second jeep JKU and should have it back from the shop in a week or so. full offroad build. Recovery gear and winch, Dual battery, and On Board Air.

looking forward to meeting more jeepers as time goes on, but we like beer, boats, guns, and other fine things in life, including jeeps

my real intent is to find some other jeepers in the area who live and breath jeep and offroad.

and can hangout more times then not, drinking, wrenching, partying, and just having a good time. more then welcome to be apart of any other jeep clubs, as i will be, but lets see if theres more of you out there.

so who jeeps and lives in the Delray Beach-Boca Raton-Deerfield Beach area and wants to get a MEET-and-GREET going?

West Delray Beach checking in. '97 TJ nearly stock but skilled behind the wheel (been all over CO, AZ, NM in rented TJs). I would be very interested in a 'sub-club' for this area as we are a solid hour minimum from Corbett or anything in Miami. Wrenching nights would be a very good idea, many hands make light work.

As for names... I may be a little too non-creative to help with this one, LOL.

Skill is important! get us some of those rental locations! Sounds like a much easier way to explore without the trek!

I'm in Coral Springs and would like to meet some people to go off-roading with up this way. I just picked up a 99 TJ (4.5 lift on 33s) a couple weeks ago.

LOL, those family trips were years and years ago (pre JK days) so I'm not sure I'd recognize a Jeep rental company if it is even still around! Anywho, we should definitely pick a good weekend when its hasn't rained like crazy for a few days and go wheeling!

I'm in Southwest broward but don't mind driving a bit for a jeep ride. Not many legal spots left to wheel in the area:
- Lazy springs: Small but nice for a day of wheeling and BBQ
- The Hump: Fun if you like mud. Some people will say to stay away of brackish water. I've been there a couple of times and don't see any rust on my jeep
- Bear Island: Used to be fun until the good trails were closed or water was drained making them boring dirt roads
- JW Corbett: Another place that used to be great until hunters through us jeepers out. All the fun trails are now open only to hunters. You can ride them during hunting season if you have a hunting license, are a small group and don't do crazy things like making donuts in the middle of the swamp.
- Picayune strand state forest: near Naples. Haven't been there, but from what I've seen it's fun when rain floods the trails. You need to get a permit
- Hard Rock Ocala: Great park. It's a two-day ride
- Wildwood Off-road Park: Another great park. Opens Saturdays only. Great for a weekend ride: wildwood on Saturday and Hard Rock on Sunday.

As far as Jeep rentals, you can fly to Grand Junction Colorado and take a shuttle to Moab. There are three jeep rentals with modded jeeps in the area. This would be the ultimate jeep experience.

Im in west boca. welcome to the club!! we go out quite often but like what was stated above, we keep losing territory. Corbett is prob the best for location but fwc seems to be out more often looking for us. The only legal trail open now is 6, which is boring. Llanero posted up most of the locations. I was in Picayune the end of last year and they seem to be shutting down the trails for plant regeneration. Okee Slough is another good place but i believe their trails are closed now too due to rain.

Hey, I'm in Broward, south a bit closer to Miami. However, I am definitely game to meet up and do Jeep things on most weekends (when I'm not on call at work) me and another member are both in the same area looking for others to hang out with go get dirty. Hope we can all meet up soon!

You guys ever go out by 8th street? I grew up on 137th and Bird Road. I haven't been out there in many years, don't know if its even allowed anymore? Would be cool to head out there again.

We did go out there once, it was pretty bad actually. Lots and lots of trash everywhere, and there were a lot of broken pallets with nails sticking out everywhere along the trail. We didn't stay long after seeing the nails. We went out to lost lakes a couple times, but that's all under construction now. I'm hoping to get out somewhere that is actually off the beaten path a bit, and requires 4wheel drive and 2 people. Seeing videos for big cypress that looks fun, but I had to work and couldn't make the last run I saw. I just don't know, this whole off reading not really being allowed anywhere on the east coast is very strange to me. Or having to pay, which is also strange. Idk

New Jeeper here in West Boca. "the Heep" is still a virgin. Just turned 600 miles on the Odo and the most dirt it's had on it is from splashing in a puddle. Would look forward to going out with experienced Jeepers to get a taste of the off road life.

Royal Palm Beach Here! However, I work down in Boca. Seen some pretty killer jeeps down in Boca. I've been looking for a good group to meet up with. Seems like most are in FLL or Miami.

That's why I thought creating a palm beach based group might behoove us.... West palm to boca there's not much.

What about next week, August 5th 6th or 7th, we plan a meetup with as many as we can gather from our area, find a centrally located park or restaurant that will host us, and talk about a new group, or next trail ride!

If we plan it on a weekend day I'm totally game. I'm in miramar, but all of the Miami groups I can't find or want to charge money to hang out, which is really lame. I think it'd be great to just find a group of people that want to hang out, I'll let computergeek know too, he's in miramar with me, but neither of us know where anything is lol
