Another forum listed "Bikini" as a color for 2019. Not even sure what color that would be??? Is there any news as to what colors might be offered for 2019?

I'm wondering if that'll be the new name for Chief.

Remember that horrible red color from a few years ago that actually looked lipstick pink? What was that called? Lobster or something like that? I'm betting that Bikini has the same paint code.

This is coming from an art major:

I dislike when an auto paint color name is something that sounds off the wall, but at least alludes to the color (desert sand metallic).

I understand they need a bunch of names to make a certain color name unique. Yah yah yah....doesn't have to mean I have to like it.

I really dislike it when they use a name that doesn't even have anything to do with a color.

Bikini is a type of bathing wear or a type of Jeep top. It's not a color.

Pink, blue, light blue, yellow, purple, red...orange with green polka dots. It could be anything.

They called that color chief because it harkened back to the bright blue that was use on the Cherokee Chief back in the late '70s. That's also why the Chief edition has the white stripe and white top. (BTW the only JK/JKU to have a painted hardtop of a different color than the body.)

Chrysler has long had a tradition of calling the same paint code color different names, not only in different years, but back in the late '60s on different brands within the same model year.

The best is Nacho. When you hear that and look at the color, it makes sense.

But really think about it. Is that the actual color of a 'nacho' chip or is it the color of that fake cheese melted plastic goop you get on tortilla chips in stadiums and carnivals?

Yup.

I guess I'm just as bad since I tend to make my own names up for these colors.

The orange/yellowish one from a few years back I refer to as "Kraft dinner"

Chief (if it's not on an actual Chief edition) I refer to as "Gumball blue" (ugh reminds me of those later model Geo Trackers)

When the Chief color first came out in 2017, on the website it was more of a teal, and ugly. When I saw the first real photo of the color it was great. So much so that it cost me - see the siggy.

I never liked the GCM on the JK/JKU, but on the JL/JLU it looks a little greyer than on the JK and I like it. But then I really liked anvil as well.

That color was hideous back in the early 90's. But I've noticed it's coming back with the Millennial crowd. I've actually seen people wearing teal t-shirts and polos just recently. Unfortunately in about one year another generation will realize how badly this color ages.

I think it might look pretty cool and I'm not a millenial ;)

So added Bikini and dropped Mojito. Mojito jeepers have to be loving that one year only color......actually half year since it was a late addition color.

I dropped a Mojito once. I'm like, "WTF is this! I ordered a perfect Manhattan on the rocks!" Jeezsh......

I will say this about the color though - Maybe but it would need a LOT of Black trim/contrast. That is NOT a matching fender/top color IMO.

Now that we've seen Bikini, I honestly think it would look awesome on a Sahara with the body color fenders, combined with a tan soft top and tan interior.

Bonus points if they offer that combo as the "Islander" edition again.
