Almost pulled trigger on JL Rubicon?

Hello,

I went and test drove a white JL 4 door Rubicon. Loved it! Had every feature I'd want.

White with black hard top (I hate body colored hard tops on Jeeps but most of the new JL Rubicons around here have them)
Leather interior
Nav and upgraded speakers
Remote start
Proximity entry
Hard top headliners

I thought a lot about getting it. But, I've only had my 17 2-door JK for less than a year. In that time I've done a lot of upgrades to it. So I would've taken a huge beating on that. So, I thought about trading my wife's car. She liked the JL, but didn't love it. She likes more luxury type SUVs. So, I didn't force the issue on a 50k vehicle.

But, definitely in a few years prob.

It definitely drove great! Love the refinements to the dash and how it drives!

thanks

Two things would need to happen for me to get a JL.

It would need to be offered in a military green and I would need to move to a warmer climate. The salt and chemicals they use here are not the Jeeps best friends.

That being said I’m only about a yr or so from both happening. Not sure what I’m going to do with the 10-12k of mods I’ve added. Luckily I’ve installed everything myself so I have the ability to reverse it with no additional cost.

Whatever floats your boat.

I never understood the fascination with black roofs and black interiors in the Wranglers. My TJ was white with a black top. July & August here in the desert the a/c could not keep the interior cool so I removed the top and painted it white. No more problem.

I live in the midwest and I prefer all painted roof and fenders over black.
Just think it looks better and paint stands up to elements better.

I went into the dealer looking for a 2 door JL Rubicon, manual...I was immediately taken away but the 4 door, and how smooth the 8 speed auto was.

It was very impulsive but I ended up leaving the dealer with a deposit on a new 2020. I waited about 3 weeks for delivery. I did get the 3 piece paint matched top..almost everyday until it was delivered I thought I messed up and should have gotten the black top. But wow I was blown away when I saw it in person. some colors just don't look great with the matched top, but looks amazing in Sting Gray.

Welcome to the forum. I like your decision, Sting Gray with color match top is #1 on my list. Enjoy!

Funny. I bought a 2020 punk’n JL and had to have the black top. They swapped it with a sport they had on their lot to make the deal go through. I guess to each their own.

I prefer the painted hardtop, too.

But I agree, a monochrome Jeep can be a bit much in certain colors.

Shopping for a Wrangler a few years ago, my dad points at a completely White JKU, hardtop, fenders, everything, and says “it only needs a Red Cross on the doors to look like an ambulance.”

That visual ruined it for me to this day.

My painted white top stays much cooler in the summer than the black one does.

Wife loves her white 4-dr. Sahara. Wouldn't have the white top though, -looks too much like a postal vehicle.

No ..they're saying black absorbs light more than any other color so that will in turn cause your A/C to work harder to obtain the same temps as Jeep's with painted non-black tops. Science!

IMO..One of the best features of a Wrangler, is the quality of the A/C System. TJ'S, JK'S and now JL'S..just awesome!

I know, I live in hot as Hell Phoenix....

Contemplating the move from Denver to Phoenix, are there amazing trails in AZ to rival the CO trails?

@Zenman323

https://www.wranglerforum.com/f45/

^^^Here is our AZ Forum. We have some great Trails in AZ. One also has the choice of Desert, or Mountain Trails. As Rival to CO, I have not been on the Trails in CO, so don't know.

We have lived in AZ 46 years, been very happy here and never looked back.
