Jeep adds Wrangler North Edition

Our friends at JL Wrangler Forums report that Jeep added a new North Edition.

Looks like a value package aimed at cold areas. It is based on a Sahara, and adds automatic transmission, a hardtop, Selec-Trac w/LSD, Cold Weather Group w/remote start, 8.4" navigation with Alpine sound, and the 2.0T 4-cyl motor.

Looks like an excellent value. My only reservation is that the V6 is not available.

Here are the details of the package:

If memory serves it was the same with the Recon offering... pushing the 2.0 motor in the special editions.... crafty

Indeed. It is the definition of “sugar coating.”

Or is it of “Vaseline”...?

Jeep is easing into a phase where the decision is Buy or Don't Buy the entire Jeep vs a real list of choices.....(Example: ESS-Dual Battery)

I used to hate that about Toyota's back when I was a Fan. IF you wanted (let's say) a Sun Roof you had to buy " Package A-ss" with all kinds of other stuff you may or not wanted in order to get the SR. Of course the salesman always had the best ever after market roof cutter in the history of mods they "used to leak" but not anymore blahblah.

I tend to buy my vehicles well equipped, so I found the Toyota system worked very well for me. When I do the same on a Jeep, the ending MSRP reaches ridiculous levels.

My guess is FCA must be aware that it has to do a better job providing value to buyers. That’s why it is coming up with all these value packages disguised as “editions.”

And in 2020 the 3.6 is being restricted on JL, and was discontinued on Dodge Journey.

Such a great motor. What shame.

A good reservation to have indeed as FCA force feeds potential buyers the 2.0.

Yea, they are trying to sell those motors any way they can. So glad I ordered the one I wanted with the 3.6.

I have a certain way of thinking that may seem "Odd" especially to those who have never served in the Military but.... IF (even if) I wanted a 2.0 motor in the worst way.
The fact that they are being forced on us in a manipulative way would make me Not get one.

I do not respond to forms of authority that manipulate or coerce. If it makes sense. If it's logical... no problem - You can't rape the willing.
Sorry if the candid reference offends, I've been known to be ..... candidive

Same here. My Sahara is essentially that package, plus it's got the V6 --phew!

LOL, that's ME to a "T." My kids think I'm nuts...my wife served too, so she sorta gets it. She just sighs and lets me rant a bit.

Interesting mix of bits.
Is this based on Sahara or Sport?
Appears to have body colored fenders ala Sahara, and includes black hardtop.
Specs match very well with my 'Build and Price' Sahara, but about $1.5K cheaper.

You want to move 2.0 turbos. Put them in 2 doors with 1/2 doors, 4.56's and 35's. Rubicon drivetrain. From there they would be an easy build.
