Every dealer is a little different. 10% off MSRP is a very good deal on a 2020. Certain dealerships will do better and certain dealerships will say they only do MSRP for Wranglers. On a 2019 I would shoot for about 15% off and 20%+ on a leftover 2018.
Contrary to what had been the norm for years, there are reports out there that Wrangler owners are seeing steep depreciation on their recently purchased JLs.
So the bigger the discount you manage to get upfront, the less you will get hit later on.
Although I work for 2 weeks a year in Sun Valley.... that’s a few months away, but thanks for the recommendation.
I can do Tread Lightly or Costco, but most of my research shows many buyers are in the 10%-12% off MSRP, which I think is a better discount than the aforementioned.
I have begun getting quotes for a JLUR. I have three, so far: 8.5%, 7.9%, and 8.9% off MSRP.
This is ordering the JL exactly how I want it. Buying one of the lot could possibly yield a better deal.
I try to completely ignore the MSRP when haggling - I start at invoice, try to get to about 5% below invoice, then get rid of as many fees as possible, then apply all discounts/rebates. If I am buying a vehicle off the lot I agressively pursue taking off the dealer holdback. I have never had any luck with the dealer holdback when special ordering.
I am in the Mid-Atlantic region, where JLs are flying off the shelves.
The dealer that offered 8.9% off MSRP is interested in volume (chasing FCA bonuses). Unfortunately, my purchase would not have counted for the December sales numbers, so I hit a limit on how low the dealer was willing to go. They were ready to give up the kitchen sink for a Ruby they had on the lot, but it just was not what I want.
I will try to get a bit more off, but, honestly is quibbling about $500 worth my time? It might be time to "Live and Let Live"...
Are you ready to write the check? When you are really ready, tell them right now 20% off. If they say no, walk out. You can always come back and pay more. But if they say OK, sit down and read everything, then write the check.
If you're ok with picking up a lot leftover you can get a better deal like some of the above. Personally I always order with my exact specs so im ok with a reasonable discount offered by a recommended dealer.
I hope you have better luck than me. I went today to purchase a new 2019 JLRU. It stickered for $50230 best they can do was $47700 and there was an extra $1000 rebate from Chrysler included in that price. When I offered 46000 before incentives and tax they basically laughed me out the door.
Last day of the month they may be looking for the count
Send Costco the email and chase the lead. Get the salesperson to give you a $# before even leaving your desk.
If they do not budge, hold out for a couple of days, FCA will likely give them a few days grace to make their final deals
Oh.. and it is year end too..
Looking forward to a picture of your new Jeep! :drinks:
Criswell near Baltimore offers 7% off Invoice, 8% if you have Tread Lightly or some other affiliate on new orders. My build came out to 13% off retail. Give Leon Travis a call. No BS, get exactly what you want.
I always find something close to what I am looking for at Dennis Dillon Jeep and take the ad in with me and say match it and you have a deal... Most of the time it doesn't work, but it gets me close and that's a smokin' deal still. This one is 13% off and even more if you have military, etc.
No luck. The sales manager I saw when I test drove was less than friendly. He had a chip on his shoulder.
And I woke up with the flu this morning. I’ll wait and see if they call back.... otherwise, I’ll contact Criswell as was recommended early in this thread. Their website is advertising 12%-14% off MSRP. They don’t have what I’m looking for, but I’m not in a rush.
Yeah. They clearly added $1k to my offer and expected me to jump on it. And they have 3 of the exact same Wranglers. Down to the penny.
