New JLU Sahara wind noise

So my wife got a new JLU Sahara. We have noticed a very annoying wind leaking noise toward the back of the jeep. We took to dealer, they agreed it is to loud. We found this (picture) where the back of the jeep roof is higher than the section ahead of it. There is a seal here too. Is this the way they are made or is ours a defect?
Thank you for the help

its definitely a defect. The one side is perfect the other side is like this. We take it in next week. I assume the only thing to do is replace the hardtop?

yes, DEFECT due to a fiberglass mold issue....As a sound engineer (retired) for the Navy this type of protrusion into a slipstream can cause what you stated...….Please be aware that most complaints are relative to the Passenger Side Wrangler removable hard top panel that it's source has yet to be discovered . Evident on my 2019 "Sahara" and no factory recalls as yet to address this issue . If I were you , I also would pay heed to the previously stated Passenger side "wind noise" area if it is evident on your Jeep.

TO "Bigtmiller" ….NO, hardtop replacement is an extreme remedy.....Fiberglass is flexible and can be adjusted on you Jeep via the 6 or 8 hard-top mounting bolts. They can simply loosen them and use a jacking spreader bar to even out the apparent "high spot " ! I've had a similar issue with the main entry to a 36 ft., fiberglass cruiser...… Tech showed up with socket set and a jack. Problem solved. Good luck !

So, Iíve always felt like the passenger side was much louder than the drivers side. Are you saying this is a known issue? Any suggestions on remedies? I know there isnít a fix, but ideas to dampen it? Do headliners help? They did in my J.k...

To" Julieboolie ".....Just saying My 2019 Wrangler Unlimited "Sahara" was ordered with the FACTORY installed headliners. If I sit in the PASSENGER seat I can hear NO "wind noise" coming from the DRIVER'S side windshield header/t-top…...While I AM driving the "wind rushing sound" becomes apparent at apx. 25 mph from the PASSENGER front seat, same as stated area. GO figure. BTW; This SPECIFIC issue has been brought up numerous times in past threads...."Bigtmiller" has a, as yet, UNRELATED noise issue.

Update on the jeep. We took it to the dealer about 8 days ago. The dealer called me 2 days ago. He said when he typed in our issue to the system, he got a call from the Chrysler within 5 minutes. They told him not to touch it, they would send an engineer out. Well they called today. They are going to replace the roof. There is some bad seals and with the rear panel out of place they will have us a new roof in August. He also said there is a big problem with seals in these jeeps.

Wellllll, OOOO,KKKKKK ! Being a retired engineer and hearing the reply the dealer gave you, is, I must say , AMUSING ! At least the issue was addressed. Considering that it required 4 months to build my "Sahara" ,I hope you get the top by August, ( December) by Jeep's calendar, LoL. Thanks for the update !

Problem: My Jeep is loud.
Solution: Buy a Prius.

People are ruining what a Jeep is. If you’re bitching about stupid shit like that you shouldn’t own one.

I’m talking to everyone that owns a Jeep, and complains about wind noise, squeaks, rattles, ride and fuel economy.

I do get what your saying overall, to someone that buys a jeep and complains about something that doesn't make sense, but thought the OP had a point and perhaps an exception to that rule, if something was broken at manufacture ie like a broken part upon delivery or such. I don't expect my jeep to be better then others or be like a bmw, but i want it to be at least like other jeeps just my 2 cents i could be out of line being a newbie

Sorry to offend you 3jeepschris. But when I spend $50 on a new vehicle and it has a obvious defect, I am going to get it fixed. Maybe some folks are ok with buying defective stuff end not getting it fixed, but not me. I have owned jeeps since the 70's and know exactly what I am getting. I do understand your point when folks complaint its not like driving a Cadillac. Even Chrysler recognized this and that is why they are replacing the entire hardtop.

I’m not offended at all. Granted I can’t believe you spent $50,000 on a Jeep but I’m not offended. IMO it’s Jeeps fault for marketing these vehicles to the masses to make more profit. The whole saying, it’s a Jeep thing you wouldn’t understand is a real thing. But Jeep has gotten rid of that moniker corporately and convinced a lot of people that wranglers should ride nice, have no wind noise, get good mileage etc. Guess what… Jeeps ride like shit, the gas mileage is terrible, no matter what you do you are going to have air noise, squeaks, rattles, etc.
I worked at a Chrysler service department for 10 years, and no lie the biggest part of my job was educating jeep owners or rather new Jeep owners what jeeps were.

90% of the time, I fixed the customers problem by turning the radio on and telling them they bought a jeep that’s just the way she goes boys.

Well we can agree on some things. Jeeps are not what they used to be now. My 76 CJ7 is a great machine. loud inside, couldn't keep it straight on a rough road, but I love it. Granted my JKU is more fun as a daily driver. My wife's JLU is really nice, not what most think of a jeep is. As for a "jeep thing", I am pretty sure I get that too. But I don't think you are grasping the whole point of this post, there is a visible factory defect on the hard top. It's not just to loud or whatever. It was made wrong, and when I spend my money I expect to get what I paid for. Not shotty workmanship. But I do get what you are saying. Lots of people get jeeps and have no idea what they are. Instead of bashing them maybe we should be welcoming them into the group and educating them. Just a thought.

Fairly simple irrefutable concept.

Something (anything) is being built.
The plan says "Put part A in/on Part B - ensure proper fit. Complete connection.
Next step.
On and On.

No where in the plan OR the purchase agreement does it say "While assembling the "something" consult the plan and COME CLOSE"

If it does say that - Someone please show me that.

If you're gonna build shit and sell it to somebody then DO it RIGHT or don't do it.

Is this a difficult concept?

Anyone buying a new vehicle of any type should go over the thing with a fine tooth comb along with a friend, in the daylight, do a test drive on the freeway, before signing anything. Once you buy it, you are at their mercy as to how and when things get fixed. The dealers promise means nothing.
