Seriously ... no fuel filler door?

So my lack of attention to detail or more specific attention to engine, interior and financing resulted in missing the fact that my new jeep didn't have a fuel filler door.. the gas cap and tether just hanging out there in its full glory... I can't really believe that this isn't just an automatic thing the dealer should install ... black or chrome which do you want?... is that really so tough.. but anyway first mod-- add the fuel filler cap that I pick up from the service department on Monday.....

If it's that big of a deal to you, you should have negotiated that into the sale.

The Jeep (CJ, YJ, TJ, JK, JL), Have never had a fuel door.
This is part of it's original heritage.

It doesnt have a hood lock either. Its Jeep thing. If you get the fuel door, get the Mopar fuel door.I bought a knock off,it was junk and returned it.I should have known.I guess I had a brain fart.I figured the margin of error would be low.

There’s now this locking hood latch. Looks like an easier solution than a hood lock.

The filler door isn't needed. It's just a bling item.... That makes it something they can nickle-dime you with to extract a bit more cash.

I agree that the gas cap looks kind of cheap without a fuel door.

Hard to swallow on a $40,000+ truck.

Yeah, but if FCA added the fuel door it would cost $51,000.

It wasn’t even an option on the JKs. I included the black fuel cap with my order but I kind of think they look pretty good without it too.

Certain JK packages included it: Rubicon Recon, Sahara 75th Anniversary, Rubicon Hard Rock, Sahara Oscar Mike, Rubicon 10th Anniversary...among others.

Otherwise, it was available as a Mopar accessory.

Its probably more convenient to add fuel from a jerrycan without the door.

Incidentally, the black metal Mopar fuel door did come standard on my 2018 JL Sahara when I ordered it.

I have emptied many cans with a fuel door on and never had an issue. - I use a Mr. Funnel dirt and water separation funnel. I also donít believe this was FCAs thinking on this matter (out of all the Jeeps sold, how many people actually use a fuel can to fill the tank?) . More likely it was the bean counters.
