What amazes You?

I'm over half of my expected shelf life but I still find some stuff amazing.
The list is pretty long actually so I don't know if including it is evocative but maybe...
California is pissed at having to just dial emissions back to federal standards while China, India, Venezuala (among others, been there seen it) ignore everything. Last I checked air is everywhere....
WTF.
As far as our Jeeps go... Is the suspension that difficult to dial in after like 70 years?

How about aligning Your customer service to your price per unit?

I've got a freaking weather radar app clipped to my belt, and it uses GPS to center the display!

Once when I was a kid (70s) we were playing outside and a neighbor pulled into his driveway with the radio on. We heard a word we didn't know and went in to ask our mom what "hurricane" meant. She turned on the radio in the living room and an hour later we were packed and moving inland.

And now I've got more computing power than we used to get to the moon clipped to my belt and I'm considering ditching it because it's "old" and only (???) has 16 gigs of storage.

Oh, and electronic fuel injection.

Hmmmm.....

Oh my amazing advice from Cali-N/E.

Anyway we live in an age of shrinking executions not expectations.
I say be fair. Pay for what you get. Get what you pay for and everybody play by what was once referred to as the Golden Rule.

Pretty simple stuff actually.

How most of the information on the interwebs is either not true or useless. Itís just one big turd. How did we get here? I wish I could wake up.

Oh my!!! You need to take those 'rose colored glasses' off and come into the 2020's. You sound like you're stuck in the 1980's. Pay for what you get and get what you paid for??? Not these days my friend. We can only wish.

It used to be, a long time ago, that you would come across the 'few and far between' driver that was rude, impatient, stupid, dangerous, etc, etc.

What I am amazed at these days: is a fellow driver on the road that ISN'T rude, an A-H, who is actually polite and treats you like they would like to be treated, who isn't looking for the other half of a road-rage-incident to confront, etc, etc!! I always toot my horn and give them a wave or a THUMBS UP when drivers are courteous. THEY are rarity these days.

I agree.....it happened to me yesterday.

Go into the store and my total was $7.34. I hand the kid behind the counter $7.50, he says thanks and starts to close the cash register. I ask if he is gonna give me some change. He starts pulling out $7 to hand to me. I say nooooo..and he slides the singles back and pulls out another $5 bill. He was about to give me $10 in change. Again, i say noooo......you only owe me $.16. He puts the bills back, grabs a dime and starts counting out 6 pennies. Finally i tell him...give me 1 dime, 1 nickel and 1 penny. He looked amazed and i laughed the rest of the night and most of today just thinking about it.

Yup, I have seen this alot. Try giving them a couple of bills so they can give you back something like a $5 or give them the right change so they can give you even dollars and they are just perplexed. I think they stopped teaching math a number of years ago right along with the common sense lessons.

The new thing is see that has my goat is people leaving those little plastic floss tools on the ground. Who flosses in public and tosses the tool? I see them in parking lots, airports, stores, etc. Like they are biodegradable, right? What a bunch of dopes.

Where I work, sometimes I'm the cashier. I will count back change to the customer and not just hand it to them. I'll get comments (from more seasoned customers) saying they haven't seen anyone do that in a long time. I guess I'm old school.

What amazes me? The fact they don't teach Drivers ED in school anymore. The parents are expected to teach their kids how to drive. If the parents have bad habits....like not using the little "clicky stick" aka blinker...those get passed on to the kid. My neighbors wife loves to text and drive....so guess what....the daughter now does the same F'in thing!!!

I am actually quite stunned that more places that handle cash don't require their people to count out change. When I was in high school and attended cashier training for a local store they taught us that counting out change is another way to verify what you are doing and can really help when get a quick change artist. I had that happen. By slowing down and counting cash back out I avoided giving this guy an extra $20.

Another trick to always do with a cash till is take the bill handed to you and cross it in the drawer until you are all done with the transaction so they cannot say I have you a twenty when they gave you a ten.

Agreed! I will always lay the cash out until the transaction is done and they are walking away. Out of reach of course. I started making change 40 years ago..learned old school and just kept it that way.

speaking of cash transactions. I bought something at Harbor Freight one day and was paying cash and the cashier said they needed my phone number to make the purchase. I said nope no phone number and she was dumbfounded and had to ask if they could make a cash sale without a phone number. it was a small purchase to boot.

Required phone number for a cash purchase???? NOPE.... I bet they tell them to get a phone on every transaction. My work does too but if the customer doesn't have one or want to give it....no big deal.
Maybe they sell the number for scammers...????

Environmentalist wackos do this, because they consider themselves morally superior to the rest of us, so they've earned the right to be azzhats.

So we have to put up with all the crap that does nothing to help the environment, like waterless urinals, paper straws, hybrid-electric cars, etc., etc.

Now that you've gotten me started, I'll mention another favorite that I saw this morning. An impatient, azzhat driver, who treats human beings like crap, stopped a 2-mile long row of commuters this am because of an injured deer off the side of the road, not on the road. The poor deer was struck in broad daylight on an open straightaway, low-speed residential neighborhood, by another speeding azzhat.

Oh, I hear ya. Forcing me to buy LED light bulbs, forcing car manufacturers to put in that stupid ESS start/stop mess, and the worst one, forcing me to buy Obamacare. Here in Utah raccoons are a huge problem. They are not native to Utah. Last year a woman stopped to help an injured Raccoon , created a wreck, picked up the raccoon, took it to a veterinarian, and made the front page of the local news as a standout citizen. When I have the chance I aim at raccoons.

Yup, they are nothing but big rats with very dangerous teeth. I have had to kill a few in my yard at night and I can tell you they are nothing to mess with and FAR from the cuddly critter that Disney portrays them to be in their media. They are just a terrible, nasty, dangerous, little beasts.

And she takes one to the vet. I wonder who paid that bill.

People in general are stupid.

They're screaming to the government to stop a "climate crisis" that isn't happening, despite the fact they have zero proof of anything because our database of recorded global temps amounts to about a 0.01% sample size.

They're demanding more technology and nannies in their vehicles, despite the statistics which show that it's causing drivers to become worse, and it's leading to more crashes and more deaths than before.

They're rushing to build artificial intelligence and robots to fill the places of humans, not stopping to ponder what is going to happen to the humans in the end.

It's just shear stupidity everywhere. I can't even stand to turn on the news or read social media anymore. The ignorance of people, and millennials in particular, is maddening.

I genuinely fear for my son. He's going to have a hard world to live in if he lives to be old. And he'll probably get to see the U.S. finally come unraveled. Most historical world superpowers lasted less than 300 years. We're right on cue.

People want it, so let them have it. Humans have a propensity for wanting things that are not good for them. It will be the new generations USA and I won't care because I'll be long gone. I feel very fortunate to have grown up in the 70s and damn the 80s music was the best ever. Love my life! Feel sorry for the others. NOT! Remember the new ones don't have any memories of what is used to be like in the US, so they can't feel sadness about how screwed they really are.

That's another amazing thing. Being able to listen to any kind of music at all unless there's an instrument and a willing musician nearby is only about 100 years old. Having a favorite kind of music is even newer, and being able to have whatever the hell kind of music you want, whenever and wherever you want it, that's just too cool.

I found an old walkman in the basement a few years ago. Showed it to my kids and explained that it only held about 15-20 songs. Then I exlpained how we made playlists back then with a double tape deck.

I can listen to 80s music more easily now than I could in the 80s. That $#*+ is amazing.

Our local Lowes does that. I just say "I'm already on file" and the cashier usually skips it without a thought. Once in awhile they say it's required and I reply with "an Ace hardware is on my way home." and they skip it.

35 years ago I started working in EMS and have spent the last 20 years in an ER. Sadly, not much surprises me anymore but what amazes me is the innate human nature to be needlessly helpless and/or hopelessly self-destructive.

As far as Jeeps go....I am continuously impressed with the little improvements that the engineers put into the JL. From the side vents that have all but eliminated hood flutter to the doors that are now easy to lift off...to the easy disconnect electric plugs for the top and doors.
