Just looking to see what people ended up paying to get their Jeep JL 2020 home
More of a % off what the initial-price the dealer quoted. Being a new generation model, I would like to see How much the dealers will actually move off their initial all in pricing
Even better if your from Canada as I’m sure the rebate structure is different between the 2 countries
I did that and found some forum discussions and MSRP and invoice price lists. They also identified actual dealers and salesmen who were selling at invoice. Even minus the doc fee.
I got my 2018 at invoice when they were new and in demand. In the end, the out-the-door price turned out to around 10-11% below MSRP.
I found the info for Ontario on the forums. If you don’t find it for Alberta, you should at least try to score 10% off MSRP. Go at the end of the month when the dealerships are trying to achieve their quotas.
Now that’s the kinda info I’m looking for. Good point on the end of the month. I was at a dealership in Calgary today and they threw out 12 % off MSRP and no gst. Said it was a promo till the months end. I’m sure I could have gotten a bit more off if I made a “I’m buying today” offer.
I’m moving to Alberta. Lol
Sounds like the time is ripe to go buy a JL.
Given that you’re in Alberta, I’d recommend the Limited Slip Differential (it isn’t standard) and if you look at getting a Sahara, you have the SelecTrac as an option, which I’d recommend as well.
Yes I was thinking it was a pretty good offer. The Selectrac and limited slip diffy is a given out here.
What’s the deal with programs like Car Gurus where you send a blast email to dealers with your required specs and you get back quotes. Are they pretty aggressive quotes or do the just spout back near MSRP pricing?
Cargurus doesn’t have a car buying service to my knowledge. When you contact a dealer from their website, you are doing it on your own.
In the States we have TrueCar, Autoland —which is the buying service for credit unions, CarsDirect.com, Costo, AAA, and a few others. I don’t know if they have these in Canada. TrueCar is becoming the more prevalent; USAA and Pentagon Federal Credit Union are using TrueCar now.
I used TrueCar when I bought my Fiat Spider: they were pretty good.
From what I’ve read on the forums, people receive decent quotes, but not better than the type of deal you seem to be looking at. But I just know what I know from reading forum posts. I started doing my reading in the forums about three years ago and got my JL in May of 2018.
OTD includes tax and license. In So Cal tax and license is right close to 12%. That money goes right to the state. My local dealer adds a $2000 dealer added cost to the MSRP. I just laugh at them.
I picked up a new 2019 when the 2020’s were already on the lot. Mine was 12-13% off of MSRP and they gave me more than I was expecting for my trade. I felt like I got a good deal.
This may not be true anymore, but aren't car prices way higher in Canada? I remember a coworker looking at Mazdas around 10 years ago and the mark up was astonishing. Might be worth it to purchase in the USA. I bought a 19 JKUR over the summer. Listed for $54, got it for around $48. Saved around 12%
Canadian prices are roughly the same as here once you adjust for exchange rates —about CND$1.30 to USD$1.00. You won’t even save on taxes because they are calculated based on where you live.
Also, FCA stopped honoring the warranty on new vehicles purchased across the border, in either direction.
I went for a leftover 2019 and was able to get 23% off MSRP with the current $3k incentive, plus they valued the trade it at over 2k KBB value. It took some work but its doable. It wasnt the color I wanted but I know I'll be able to trade it in later without losing too much on it so I feel good about it. That's something to consider. The 3k incentive ends feb 3 so this friday (end of month + end of incentive) might be a good time to really squeeze a dealer on a 2019. Just an option to consider.
