Wow, $59,800 Rubicon

At my dealer look at JLUs. They have what appears to be a loaded JLUR for basically $60k!! Thats nuts!

Not they have JLU Sports, lifted, 37ís, DV8 bumpers, rigid lights, LED package for $38k. Very nice!
Lift is a FORTEC lift and know nothing about them. No its a local 4x4 shop.
Temping looking at ones under $40.
But love my JKU Sahara right now.

Saw JL sport thinking hmm, DD...not at $32 for basic sport.

Not yet. Been talking to guys here. Some say big difference, some say little.
I can say just from knowing there is now a 8-speed tranny and a better gearing, its should drive better.
Going to wait for 2020 model to look at a JL for a DD. Minimal mods and just 33ís. Real MallCrawler only! Want a Sahara possibly with AWD. Afraid cost will be too high.

I cant see paying that kind of money for a Jeep that I may flip and will definitely bang a few times. To me, that more of a road vehicle because the cost risk of rock damage is just too high.

That's peanuts!
I have moved back to the land of beer and brat (Germany) and the starting price for JLU is 47KÄ. Call it $53K.
The starting price for a Rubi with a soft top is Ä57. Let's say you want the hardtop and leather seats, plus floor mats and the phone connection package.

67 thousand Euros... for a Jeep. So, 70K USD for a damn Jeep.
Mercedes G-Klasse money for a Jeep.
It's insane. I assume it is partly due to the lovely trade war, but my God.

I really regret not bringing my wrangler with me (2015 JKUWW). It's just that the fuel cost for that 3.6 pentastar would be so dang expensive here.

About 6.80USD per gallon.

Also, it is really hard to find low octane fuel. Most places only carry 98 and 100 here. Which I think is 93/95 in the US system of rating.

I was bored the other day so opened the build & price app on my phone. Was really surprised to see Jeep/FCA is charging for the plastic tray that sits in the cargo well. Granted it was only $35 I think, but that is a load of BS! I’m glad I’m not in the market for a new Jeep. Prices are just insane !!

You've discovered why sales are equal to or less than sales of the 11 year old JK model a year ago. Once the newness wears off, sales will likely fall even more next year.

It's to the point where you can buy a fully loaded Ram 1500 CC 4x4 with luxury options for less than a Rubicon. It's stupid.

yet you can still buy a nicely equipped JLUR for about the same as a nicely equipped JKUR. The JL has some expensive options that are not available on the JK as well as standard features that you either can not even get on the JK or pay extra for. I guess the way I see it nobody is required to load a jl up with auto top and some of the other crazy options that get them up that high.

you are telling me a jk rubi with msrp of 43K has equivalent equip as a jl rubi with an msrp of 60K. I find that odd as I was just looking at JLUR's and msrps were considerably under 60K and all were under 50K some lower 42ish.

On a very quick glance, they looked similar equipped. Yes the JLUR had the LED package.
Did not read al the options on theJLUR, but saw nothing that stood out expect the LoJack for $495

Here is the JKUR I saw for $40K now internet price
https://www.dadelanddodgechryslerjee...6dac0e2f45.htm

Think a JLUR is worth $15 more even with options?

Sorry, $55K Jeeps that people might truly wheel is crazy. Yes, prices in Miami are crazy and JLUs are selling like crazy!

When I was buying in November of 2015, Most JKUR where in the low to mind 40's and seem reasonable in a sense. But still high for me. Now $10K more is crazy. Yes, more stuff.

$37K JLU sports modded out, 37's for $38 seems like a deal.

Yeah it's getting ridiculous. A loaded Wrangler shouldn't exceed 40k. These are off-road toys not luxury vehicles. WXman hit the nail on the head - a loaded 1500 is cheaper and far more bang for the buck than a JLUR. Jeep is taking us all for suckers.

pretty easy to spend a lot less on a jlur than $58k+. experience with Dave smith tells me pretty much knock 10% off the msrp for your actual price. and Dennis Dillon even more.

I actually wheel in my Recon and its msrp was 50K but otd was 42500. I know guys with 60-70K AEV rigs that actually wheel.

My JLUR (loaded pretty well) MSRP was $55k.
OTD was less than $50k and I got crazy money for my JKURHR.
No complaints here.

Bottom line. Almost Everything is expensive as hell these days. I had a buddy drop $32,000 on a friggin 3 wheeler. Talking about a lot of money for a "Toy".
Go price a loaded out Razr 4 seater side by side (Mid $30's)and then talk about the price of Jeeps.
Sorry (Not) I'll drop another 10-15k and drive the best Jeep ever.

Not saying people don't wheel expensive rigs. I mean that these are supposed to be off-road toys and use to be affordable. Yeah, with aftermarket stuff, guys are wheeling with $80K in rigs. Starting to be very expensive now.

Now depending on what you do off-road and need a DD, at $58K or so, a Ford Raptor is looking better.

Great, yeah, PA and Idaho seems to have great deals. But not every part of the country is like that and not everyone wants to fly, drive and haul a vehicle back.
Most people buy stuff locally.

But they look nice. Growing on me, except for the Soft-top!

The difference between men and boys is the price of their toys.

If I wanted something different I would look at a JLR (2 door). Or, fo a So Cal fun machine, get the soft top JL. The thing would move. The back seat would live in the garage. But for now I go with my JKUR.

Fantasy - Living in a land of beauty where I could just take off the top and doors and pretty much drive around smiling ....

Instead I live in N/E Pa - sorta like serving a prison sentence outside and told to shovel snow, look at GRAY (all 50,000 shades everyday), endure 18* then 95* and humidity and maybe (Maybe) you get 1 or 2 nice warm sunny low humidity days a Year just to make it like the game of Golf. It sucks pretty much 98% then you hit one good drive 280 yds right up the middle and that keeps you coming back.....

What were we talking about again....?

Honestly I don’t really think that is too bad... look at the overall price of vehicles and the options they provide. I have a 2018 JLU Rubicon and I did option it out pretty well, it stickered around $59. I don’t regret a thing, the options I have on this rig compared to my JK’s are unbelievable... the way it handles, rides and the enjoyment is second to none. I don’t regret my decision whatsoever. In fact I also have a 2018 JLU Sahara. To each their own.

Well I guess you won’t be buying a JLU.... optioned out anyway. I never understood buying the base model (Sport/SportS) or anything for that matter and then adding.... it’s still a base model, worth no more on trade... I am not talking about typical adds... tires/wheels/lift.......

And the comfortable truth in that is....You don't have to.

General comment....

That's been my only point from the beginning. All the griping, moaning and knashing of teeth about Jeep on a Jeep forum doesn't and never has made any sense.
I could alost see it on a Toyota site but not a Jeep site.
If someone wants to buy a new Jeep at CJ prices.... News flash. You can't even buy a CJ at CJ prices and next news flash that's Good news.
Would All Jeepers be happy if in the past Year valued of Jeeps did what the DOW did in the last year?
Buy what one wants. Buy what one can afford bit keep raining on the parade of those who chose to buy a new JL or JK for that matter.... What does it accomplish?

That was just as comment in general. JL, JK, whatever. My JKU Sahara was well under 40k. And even that was pushing it for what to me is a very basic vehicle. I didn't want to pay over 40k for a JKU with a 10 year old cockpit.

If I'm going to drop 50k or more, it would probably be on a luxed out GC. Still more than capable for any off-roading I would do around here, and ammenties/ride quality/handling worthy of the price tag.

This is just MY opinion and not a bash on the wrangler. And nothing to do with what I can afford.
aldo90731 and Minion Wrangler like this.

Not raining on anyoneís parade. Just said Wranglers are being priced very high now, thatís it and will price out many people.
Many options that are expensive and adding to pricing seem to be more for the regular folks and not for the hardcore Jeepers.

Yes, seems like many new cars are being priced so high. Why would I say a Toyota Camry, when I can get a Lexus for slightly more and better quality.
So a Soccer Mom, Loaded Sahara JLU or. Ranger Rover?
If Jeep had any competition, these prices would be better period.

Not raining on anyone. Hell, almost puled a trigger on a JLR yesterday as a DD. Wanted a Sahara but only in the JLU. But not at $45 for similar to what I bought in a 2015 for $32k

You know, I looked at the CG too. $37k very nicely equipped for what I want and can do trails I need here, cheaper
