What did you do with your JL today?

I can't figure out how to start a section in the JL area to hijack the "what did you do with your JK today" section so here is a thread that can hopefully start it.

A lot of the Wrangler JL section looks like speculation and old posts. Time to change that. Kuhltoys swapped the 2016 JK for a 2019 JL. Everything we added to the JK came from the factory this time so we don't have to re-do anything.

We might have to change the name of the web series because we got too popular and someone thinks they own the name already. For now it is on CoolToysTV if you want to see better pics.

So what did I do with the JL today?

I added the cool little picnic table to the back door. Much easier than it looked on the Jeep website, 20 minutes max. A couple of flaws though. The cables arrived un-equal length so the table isn't level and the paint was already flaking so a little sandpaper and Krylon went a long way. Too save you the math, 13mm is a 1/2 drill bit plus about three swirls to widen the holes.

Next on the list was a car seat cover for my cohost Chloe the dog. We tried four different brands in the JK. For the JL we opted to go with Weathertech, which was the hands down winner at any price.

JL Jumbo Remote Key - Smaller Version? Anyone?

So does anyone have a solution for reducing the size of the Giant Key for the JL? I can't find a lock box that will fit that beast. HEY JEEP, SMALLER KEY PLEASE! It is really hard to surf with that thing in my wetsuit in a waterproof bag. If you know of a lockbox that works or a smaller remote that will work, please let me know!

It doesn't look that much bigger but it is.

FPace/JK/Volt Keys. JK is thicker, longer and wider. Other two fit in a Master 5500D lockbox.

Poor man's hardtop lift and 1st time topless

I've had the JL just over a month and decided it was time to get the top off.

So I rigged a poor man's hardtop lift in the garage:

And the process worked well!

Looking forward to the warmer weather.

I'll also need to consider which soft top in the future.

New lift, rims and tires!

I have had my JLU for 100 days - time to get to work.

Monday the Mopar 2" lift was installed. I measured the before and after and it was closer to 3.5" all the way around.

Friday the Fuel Beast 17" rims and BFG K02's went on. I'm looking forward to rambling about Palo Duro Canyon later today once I get some hose in there for longer spare tire bumps.

I'm going to let the wallet rest a little before deciding on bumpers.

*Hopefully this image displays.

Took a better picture of Poison Spyder Bruizer front bumper recently installed along with Warn Zeon 10-s winch with Factor 55 Flatlink E Shackle. Used it all to pull a fellow wheeler out a couple weeks ago.

How did you mount the ham antenna?

Doug, didn't get up to the antenna part, in fact it's making me nuts. Trying to find a good solution for both, 2m and hf. want to avoid front mounting.

Not sure how that is going to work out, maybe a bracket for the rear that goes over the tire/or hinge mounts for the hf. Perhaps a custom bracket for the right tail light, if i can avoid interference to the sensors.... welcome any ideas

Photo,

It's amazing how few options there are in so many different areas when it comes to JLs. Especially in this area of Ham radios. Strange, because many, many jeepers here in So Cal are using ham radios instead of CBs. Now, if you want a bumber…

No ideas yet, but I'll keep in touch.
