I know it's been a while since I last posted on here but just to keep the thread going and in case anyone has been on here that's new feel free to post on here and if your new or just planning to go on a quick run post up as well, hopefully we will be planning a light run at Patterson creek soon with the possibility of camping, unfortunately I'm in the process of tearing down my Yj for a full frame off resto but I will probably take the Xj out so I can at least tag along, planing I believe for late October early November.

Where is Patterson Creek? I had read that the OHV trails known as Patterson creek had closed back in 2010 https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/gwj/n...TELPRDB5150608

The part of patterson creek that looked like it was more fun has been closed off, but the main part is still open. Very easy riding. Some light creek crossings but 2wd will even do it.

Live in Roanoke too, spend most of my time wheeling on Potts. Will be sure to post next time we go. Usually meet up with a friend @ Burger King across the street from Burgland Chevrolet on 419 (just south of 419&311 jct)

It'll probably be about 6 months before my Yj will see Potts again with the resto, but hopefully I'll be able to catch rides with some of the other guys I wheel with and spot for people.

I'm about a month out right now. Finishing up a WJ knuckle swap, adding 6" springs on a SOA swap and long travel shocks. It should flex a bit more than before.

I'll say sometime around Dec 1 she'll be ready to rock and hopefully not roll.

Awesome man, sounds like you'll have a nice rig when it's all finished up.

If im real lucky with moving the build along I'll be ready somewhere around april or may just in time for warmer weather. But that's with engine and trans swap, 8.8 conversion gearing everything to 4.56 or 4.88 and staying sua but moving up to 35's or 37's with some light trimming lol, after all that frame will be blasted and re coated for the second time since 1988 and then the body will be repainted, full frame tied cage will go in along with a custom dash unit and seats along with harnesses. so yeah i've got my work cut out for me.

That thing will be bad when it's all finished. Let me know if you need help doing anything.

I just thought I would put this out there and see what kind of response there was. Wondering if anyone would be interested in doing like a meet-n-greet one Friday evening or Saturday morning??

Looks like my minor refit will be completed the week of Thanksgiving. Planning a ride to Potts on Friday or Saturday (November 24th or 25th). If you're interested reply back and I'll post more details soon!

A group of us (4-5 jeeps) are going to Potts Mountain Jeep trail on Saturday, November 25th. We plan to leave the Burger King just off of exit 141 at 9am. (The address is 114 Sheraton Dr. Salem, Va.). We'd love to have more folks come along. Be sure to bring lunch and snacks for yourself.

None of us have crazy rigs, mostly 35s, winches and lockers. Come in with us!

as long as nothing crazy happens with the kids I should be there. I have a Montero with a locker and 33s. No lift but I've made it before.

Good deal! not sure if you meant that you're bringing your kids or not but there will be other kids coming so they'll have company if so. Look forward to meeting.

Sorry for the late reply, yes I will be bringing my 5 year old. He's been on tons of trails with me already. Definitely excited, I've been missing Potts.

I just picked up a new 2018 JK Willy's Wheeler this weekend. I'm in Daleville and I was thinking of taking a look at Broad Run, I know it's near Catawba Rd, but I'm having trouble finding directions. It's a stock jeep, nothing fancy, but I was thinking of doing some exploring in a weekend or two.

Awesome! Here is the exact address for Broad Run.

https://goo.gl/maps/VPSkhVea62C2

study the map a bit, it comes out in Daleville if you make all of the right turns. If you go when the water is up, make sure you don't go alone.

I'd offer to make the trip with you but my tcase is in pieces right now.

Safe Wheeling.

Thanks for the info Richard. Broad Run is the closest, but I'm not sure if it's the easiest. What I'd like to do is take my Willys out on a safe trail just to get started. Something within an hour of Daleville.

ok guys braud run is easy to get to.

botetourt rt 220 headed to fincastle take left at light past lord botetourt high school onto rout 779.

then go a ways down 779 and right past nannies market(closed log cabin store) take a right onto haymarket rd (rt666)

stay on it go over bridge go left. then take your second right. your now on braud run

when you get to the end bare to the right you come out at another closed log store. you will be at rt 311. take a left for salem va or a right to go into new castle.

years ago it was a lot of fun in there. now if your caught off the main road you risk fines and or impoundment. i live on country club rd (rt 665). it has to rain a lot for the water to be up high enough to be sketchy on 2 of the creeks its the last 2 i think you cross is 7 times.

i dont have a jeep anymore but if need be and i have time can lead in my tahoe or f250.
