Are you happy in CT?

I know for sure I want to move to one of the southern states. I'm not that happy living here. I don't like the extreme 4 seasons and our winter is so long. It's also a little too blue for me (I won't get into politics). I've been down south plenty of times and it's somewhere I could see myself spending my life there. The restrictions for off-roading in CT are too much also. Everything is illegal. Anyone planning to move to the south at some point?

Originally from Washington state, lived in Cali and AZ and other places in the US, my job brought me here andi HATE it. With so many taxes and laws this should be a paridise! After 5 years, still trying hard to leave everyday, have to find a job first!

CT Yankee, born and bred. And I'm thinking I need to get out, sooner than later. VT or NH. I'm also considering going south of Mason's & Dixon's line. Where..NC, SC, GA, TN?

There's a reason GE just up and left the state.....Just can't see myself going south though. Would definitely move to the northern corners, WA or ME if I could. But with good jobs & 3 young kids (the oldest having just started school), think we'll be stuck here for a while....

I hear ya, hard to relocate with kids and give up a decent job.

politics aside, i really like CT. Good people, plenty of really cool small towns with a New England feel, great sports fans, access to tons of hiking, camping, beaches, fishing, and a quick shot to NYC. Lots of good jobs too (despite GE leaving). Gotta be honest, I love it.

I cant stand the politics here though...thats for sure.

Seasonal depression makes these cold months harder to get through than they should be. I'm stuck here until graduation and I never thought I'd want to rush out of college.

Pretty much the only thing I'll miss is the pizza and Archie Moore's.

50 years here in CT, ready to try something new. Hopefully Colorado if some plans work out.

Left CT a year ago for Raleigh, NC. Love it here. Lots to do and much lower taxes! Plus you can drive your jeep on the beaches as well as a park that has trails of varying levels for off road driving. Highly recommend NC.

Grew up in Southern California, Lived in Boston for college, and now live in CT waiting for my girlfriend to finish grad school. I think you guys covered it pretty well. The first thing I noticed when I moved here was how much people wanted to leave. I do have to say, most of the state is beautiful!

Get rid of the liberals and the taxes, which seem to go together, change the fire arm laws and this place would be pretty good. I like the seasons and the scenery.
That being said the wife and I are looking to go south in a few years when I retire.
The funny thing about the politics is that the cities make this a blue state. There are lot of conservatives in the hills, Republican and Democrat.

At 52yrs old the Winters are wearing me down. I am also an avid cyclist and I'm tired of the cold, short days, & having to ride the indoor trainer. Tired of seeing pics of folks on Facebook doing things outdoors year round that I can only do (comfortably) for 7-8 months. Taxes suck too. I've done some research and North Carolina is likely where I'd head if I were solo. Wife has a big family & extended family here so I don't see it happening anytime soon.
