Meshomasic Satte Forest

anyone else done any wheeling through here? I know dirt bikers run through here fairly often, but I've found a couple spots that look jeep friendly too.

Hey Now, Scooter!

FWIW, I hike, hunt, and drive through Meshomasic all the time. It can be a lot of fun in winter time, just don't go alone. I've helped people who got stuck, and gotten stuck myself (and been helped). Just be aware, driving off the official forest roads isn't legal. The only time I can legally drive the gated roads is during hunting season, when DEEP unlocks some of them for the season. As a hunter, I try to not annoy other hunters. Pay no attention to the ATVs and dirt bikes, they are not legal in there, especially off-road.

Well I knew the state doesn't technically allow off roading (except for snowmobiles in some places) but I've seen a Ranger once and that was in Bigelow Hollow by the boat launch. You around south glastonbury often?

One town line over in the 06040, so it's close by.

Gotcha. I don't live in glastonbury any more, though I'm there often, but I'm one town over from you

I border the Mesh..It's pretty much wide open, bikes, atv's, vehicles, amateur bomb makers, yay-whoos shooting at all hours. The gates get opened by the rednecks, NOT DEEP, and sometimes opened for logging trucks, and never re-locked. I can drive from N Mulford Rd by the mega-mansions in G'Bury all they to and thru the gate by the Portland Res spillway. Some sections are still private property, and are usually marked, and those seem like the fun Jeepin' trails to me...but private, so there's that. The old missile sites are particularly interesting to explore. The gas lines are also fun to explore, some folks drive trucks full of atv's and unload either in Portland or the mansions in G'bury. The police don't seem to care.
