Need price quote for 1997 Jeep Wrangler with rust issue/major exhaust issue

My 1997 Jeep Wrangler Sahara model has 160,000 miles on it. It has a hard and soft top, but a hole in the exhaust system and the undercarriage is rusted pretty good. Also, probably needs new brakes. I know someone who was going to pay $700 for it. Any opinions on a fair price for it? I know it's only a matter of time before the under carriage is going to give.

Someone bought my 98 with a "holey" frame that had some patch work, but still needed a lot of TLC for $3000.

$700? You could get that for just the hard top.

I've paid anywhere from $1000-2000 for TJ's with rusted out frames, but they've all had way fewer miles than that. Hard tops aren't quite going for $700 around here, I just sold 1 for $500 and it took 3 weeks to find a buyer for it. Wait til the fall and you'd get $7-800 for a hard top. Easiest way to make money off a rusted out TJ is to part it out, but if you can't do that, the prices I listed I would consider fair for a TJ that either needs a frame swap or is only good for parts.

I may try to get $1,000 for it. This information really has helped. Thanks to all who replied! I want to get rid of it since I'm picking up a new car this week and have no room for the Jeep. I'm gonna miss it a lot. It was part of the family since 2000 and has traveled across the country and back. I'll also miss owning a Jeep. I'm getting a Subaru. It's quite a change. Thanks again all!
