Southern Part of CT

Hey y'all,

I see the Connecticut forum isn't very active. I'm from Milford and would love to hear from anybody in CT. I'm doing some minor modifications to my Jeep since winter is close by. Maybe make a couple Jeep friends that are close by!

Shelton here. Unfortunately I ran into the same issue - dead or slow local forums. I haven't joined any clubs in CT yet, maybe in the Spring.

Once I start with modifications I'm thinking of joining a club around here. Not a lot of real Jeepers in Milford.

New to the Jeep cult... Fairfield County

It would appear I'm not the only one disappointed in the Jeepers of CT... I'm in lower Fairfield County (spread out between Stamford, Darien, Norwalk, & Westport). I just bought a '16 JKU Sport and I'm still learning the endless options to customize this thing. I still need to learn about adding (specifically what to add) lift kits/spacers/shocks/etc... the basics to get this thing off road when I want. So if anyone is local and wants to to meet up to talk jeep I'm in

Not really sure why you are disappointed.....There are a ton of great jeepers in CT. What you have to keep in mind is there aren't many legal places to wheel in CT. What good legal places we have the clubs keep quiet to protect them. Even if your rig isn't 100% ready to wheel I suggest shopping around clubs just to get to know ppl. Clubs aren't only good for wheelin with but there is the huge social aspect as well as knowledge. The club I belong to has a very active forum, has a ton of social gatherings, wheels a few times each month, and hangs out all the time. Just need to look in the right places. Im just gonna quote myself from another post.

NEA4wd associated CT clubs

Central CT 4 Wheelers
East Coast Offroad Jeepers Of Connecticut
JonFund
Northeast Jeep Organization
Ronin Wheelers

NOVA4x4 associated CT clubs

Eastern 4 Wheelers
East Coast Off-Road Jeepers of Connecticut
Jeep & Truck 4x4
Hope that helps

I would be down to meet more. I had joined with a meet up group in the next town over, but they meet Friday nights and I always end up having other plans. Oops.. So I would be down for some planned meet ups in the FF county/southern CT area. I haven't made the plunge to join a club yet - still a little too stock I think to go wheelin'. I need more money

Lightbulb meeting in 2016

How about we set up a meeting then for those of us in lower Fairfield County? I'm thinking mid-January, on a Sunday (the 17th?). Many of the beaches around here do not require a fee to enter this time of year so we could maybe do an initial introduction there or at one of the town parks.... Let me know your thoughts for those in the area. Off the top of my head I'm thinking Fairfield or Westport (they both have pretty wide open lots and a pavilion.

Let me know what you all think

The area I can do. Mid January, probably not. I'm getting surgery on the 12th and I'll be in a sling. If the majority can make mid January, I'll find a way!

Ridgefield here- also a bit disappointed in the local forums. I get out wheeling 4 or 5 times per year for a 2 or 3 day trip, almost always Rausch but looking to hit some spots in NH or VT this spring.

I'm in Brunswick Maine so if you're ever in northern NH let me know I've got a couple friends who've been checking out nh a lot

Jay, let's keep you in on this so whatever timing works for you - let's setup a Sunday meeting closer to then and we'll all get together. I've got a couple Jeep owning friends that will join us as well that's looking to get something going locally.

I'm down for setting up an earlier meet too, especially to expand contacts for trailing and out of state trips...

Sounds good man- will do! Looking to hit some of the Class VI roads, also have a good buddy who runs a Rover crew in VT around the area that holds the overland challenge each year. Some great camping, mild to moderate difficulty as far as the wheeling...maybe 1 or 2 winch spots to pull over some obstacles and that's the worst of it.

Fired up to check it out

Sounds good. There are a couple light trails in mass I know of on the drive up too. Or they at least used to be... pm me and I'm happy to send them to you

Parents actually own a 110 back over the pond. Fun cars. Didn't realize there were so many over here.

Yes it's finally becoming an active thread! Is there going to be a January meet up? If so when and where, where to?

I've been toying with the idea of springing for a D90 for years, unfortunately they are only becoming more scarce and even more expensive.....

Yeah cheapest way is to find an old one in the UK(they go for nothing) and ship it over. Paperwork and shipping ends up being like 2000$ but in the end it's a hell of a lot cheaper than buying one here. Only catch is that the LR has to be 25 years old. But they really haven't changed much since then. No airbags still...
