Jersey Newbie with question

I am about to buy my first jeep! Will be using it for trips to the shore, fishing at Island Beach Park. Have pretty much decided on a 2003-2004 automatic (I'm old), no lifts, Wrangler 6 cyl, not a Rubi. Looking for opinions about the need for rear LSD for beach driving.....is it necessary?
Thanks for the help!

I can't speak for LSD and I don't think I have it on my 2015. What I do know is I turn off my traction control when I'm on the beach. That plus airing down I believe are most important.

If you want to drive on IBSP, look up the NJ Beach Buggy Assoc. They offer beach driving classes in March in IBSP and April in Brigantine. I took the Brigantine class last year and it was a huge help.

Second that,

I've had mine on IBSP and on the beach down in the outer banks NC. Air down and don't drive like you can't get stuck

You'll be fine in 4W on the beach at IBSP and as CJ mentioned, the Dune Buggy Association runs a good course on beach wheeling for beginners. From experience I'll just say that beach wheeling at Island Beach in the height of the summer means frequent checks by the park's rangers so just be sure you have fishing gear, pole in the water, safety equipment (shovel, tow rope, board, fire extinguisher) and you'll be fine. On the weekends when the bathing beach lots are full, they'll still let you in but may spot check you so keep that stuff in your rig at all times. See ya down there...
