NJ "jug handle" left turns

I spent the better part of January in NJ taking care of my mother's interests while she was hospitalized.

I could see no logic in which left turns were regular turn-90 degree-lefts and which were jug handles -- and worse, my GPS tried routing me regular left instead of jug handle left several times.

Before I tell Garmin to improve their NJ mapping software could someone tell me if "jug handle" left turns are found throughout NJ or only in certain municipalities? Thank you.

Yeah you can them everywhere in NJ. They're safer than than regular left turn lanes. Or I suppose that's why they exist.

Most of that state is no Left turn, and utilizes a Round a bout (Jug Handle) to limit all crossings of traffic...Kinda like most exits are on the right side so the left lane is not hampered at all...

But NJ traffic is so bad that it helps to prevent side impacts from drivers running red lights and helps to kinda keep the flow moving even during very heavy traffic times...

Its not the entire state...but the basic Joke is..even when getting a ticket in NJ...
Didnt you know? You cant take a left in NJ?
lol I got one trust me...

Spent the first 30 year of my life in NJ and it is where I learned to drive. Lived in Ky for 20 years and u-turns were mostly illegal. Now I am in NC U-Turn Capital of the world. Here cars enter and exit 4 lane roads from both the left and right lane. Many places to make a left turn, you start out making a right, move over 2 lanes of traffic in a relativity short distance and pull into a lane in the median. Then when traffic has a break you make a u-turn ultimately heading left from where you started. Boy do I miss the jug handles and circles.
