Wharton 1-16

Hi Everyone, im looking to hit Wharton this sat, it will be my first time so looking for recommendations / anyone who wants to join. Ill be coming from Mays Landing so i assume ill enter the park near Basto village. Anyone know of any trail maps for the park? I see the hiking maps on there site 'WhartonTrailMapFinalDraft.pdf' but thinking the MAP trails arnt listed.
thanks
tim

I already have plans for Saturday, so that is bunk for me. I wouldn't mind getting back out there soon though.

If you can hold off a day, however, there are going to be more Jeeps heading into the forest on Sunday, the 17th. They normally met at the Atsion Ranger Station on 206, and Atsion Road. Normally meet up there about Noon. ( https://www.wranglerforum.com/f97/phi...129778-12.html )

You typically find more activity on the Philly/PA forums about Wharton then you do in the Jersey section( still can't grasp why though ). Maybe I will catch ya out at a later time though.

FYI. This was found in Wharton along with similar metal spikes. Be careful. Also they are trying to close a lot of the roads and trails due to dumping, littering, and other destruction so please be respectful while utilizing these trails.

I'm about an hour away from Wharton and I'm looking to go off road for the first time. Are these trails for beginners? I got my Jeep almost a year ago and having been dying to take it off road but I don't know anyone else that does it. I'd rather not go alone.

Any info would be great. Also, if anyone is willing to go to the trails with me, that would be awesome.

Hi Zeebs, if you look at post #2 there is a link to the Philly crew that seems to get out there often. I dont know them but seem like a good group. Yes the trails are not hard but WATCH HOW DEEP THE WATER HOLES ARE. here is me making it through one http://www.advprojects.net/offroadin...ne_barrens.mp4 and the next one i got stuck and had to winch out. my doors leaked about 3" of water in to the jeep before i got out of it. Not a big deal but if you are by your self / dont have a winch it could be a mess! I would be up for running wharton again but its going to be a number of weeks, its almost a 2hr drive for me to get there.
