Let's keep all of this on an even keel here folks. WF does not tolerate anything in regards to wildcat 4wheeling at all. I think everyone on here knows this and would not purposely post a thread to go someplace where they will be causing harm to the environment or breaking the law.
Tell me Burton, Who are you? Do you own a Jeep? Are you state employee?, Club member, tree hugger?
Just trying to figure out whats going on here.
I took my picture down because I dont want people like you trying to use my pictures against me, not because of the legality of the locations
What some folks dont understand is that 4x4's and trucks have used this forest for years.
Going back there for Hunting or Firewood has never been a problem.
Since last fall we have had a huge influx of out of towners coming up here ripping up illegal trails, driving thru wetlands, littering and just being basic idiots.
Nobody here has any problem with folks coming up and enjoying this beautiful forest.
If you know any 4x4ers who are ignorant to the rules of 909 or have no respect for the Forest , tell them to stay home!!!.
They have ruined it for everyone.
PS - You are damn right I am a tree hugger.
It's all about respecting the land that you live off of.

PM me your phone number. I want to talk about this. When I was there we ONLY went on trails that had previous tire marks on them .As I was new to the area I was sure to STAY OFF the trails that are marked SNOWMOBILES ONLY.We followed one swamp area and continued onto the road trails. I did not and will not use the internet to encourage illegal off roading
Also. I have not been there since there was snow on the ground.
Please do not single me out as the main cause of of other peoples mistakes
I wouldnt get to bent about it. This person obviously is just a spammer who googled 909 and got this thread. Its quite funny how we've never seen these 2 before other then this thread. The more response we give them, there worse this thread will get. IMO, Goober and Burton are the same person just looking for attention and making it appear there are more people involved. I bet that there will be more "people" posting to stay off 909 in the near future.
I also saw your 909 pictures. About half of them were in illegal places. And Beacon pics too -though those arent my concern.
Its good enough for you to understand there are concerned legal users of the 909 who are fed up with illegal motorized activity.
If you want to discuss what is legal there, there are 3 Ranger/Forester contact #'s in the kiosk's. Call them.
Btw, there's no swamp area on the 2 legal truck trails.
If you have specific questions about the 909, I'd be happy to correspond via pm.
Burton,
Please tell me what it is that you see wrong with the pictures below.
The top pictures iare on dirt road, look around, they are commen in these parts
I also see a group of people with a commen bond shareing something they enjoy
Burton4x4, accusations will stop right now. I understand your anger and frustration but WF does not encourage or even allow pictures or trail reports of wildcatting. You have no proof that the wheelers here are the ones illegally wheeling. Until you do, you will cease posting directed at the specific members here or I will ban you from the forum.
Unfortunately, you did inadvertently accuse a member. Like I said, I understand your frustration and you've had your say. The 4X4 community is on your side. People who wildcat ruin it for the real enthusiasts and I sincerely hope all parties involved here and everywhere take a good hard look at where they are wheeling to make absolutely sure they are legal spots, but we are going to give them the benefit of the doubt.
I've heard it's damned hard to find spots to offroad back east. The reason is people who tear up lands and don't respect property lines. Never cut a new trail, pack out more than you pack in, always clean up your messes after breakage, and above all else remember when you wheel carelessly you're giving those who want to close the lands leverage against the 4X4 community.
Burton, I have got to ask. What is your angle on this? Are you a concerned citizen? A land owner near by? A good steward of wheeling? I can completely understand respecting the lands, we all fight very hard to keep a just a few places open. And just two days ago Obama, Pelosi and Fienstien just kicked us in the teeth. Its going to make harder to find places to go in the west now.
Heres a copy of a posting I just made in another local jeep forum,
Like it says, i wont be there again and hopefully others will do the same
"
I think as a group we should unofficially close 909 to all Jeep and truck traffic.
We can do this by just staying away from there
What at the beginning seemed like a nice place to wheel quickly turned into an area of contraversy.
I myself have been there twice and have followed the tracks of othes who have been there before.
I also stayed off of trails that were marked as snomobiles only
This summer as the ground dries up maybe you can return but only before having a group discussion with the park ranger so they can clarify what roads/trails are legal to drive on
I will not be going back to 909, yes it was fun but I have seen it and I am moving on to better things"
Why should 909 close down? Because burton4x4 says so? I dont think he should be aloud to walk through there. I sont think he should have an opinon. Does that make me right? Does anything stated here make him right? Burton.....if you do not want to participate in good fun(not illegal) then please stay out of the conversation. I'm sure we have all heard this saying berfore "If you dont have anything good to say, dont say anything!" When you see me or anybody else talking about "illegal off-roading" then by all means, jump on in. But until then, Be nice and enjoy the forum. We are all here to share a common bond.
Goob, you seem to be lumping the whole 4WD community together. This sounds like a very small area that is being impacted.
By tact I mean signing up to a forum just to flame a thread. It has negative impacts. I understand illegal trail use and the frustration that goes with it. It doesn't help our image. Educating people on the do's and dont's works for 99% of the people out there. Its the 1% that needs to be beaten. You need to be able to recognize who that 1% is and not bash the others.
Here on WF when we find people who are breaking the rules we lecture them harshly on proper wheeling and respect for our lands. The offenders usually get it and cease the illegal adventures.
I think you and Burton have made your point over and over. I will lock this thread if you post anything but positive influence again.
Is there a way we can block users on this forum?? THIS IS A WRANGLER FORUM!!!! NOT A PISSING MATCH FORUM!! IF YOU CANT GET INVOLVED WITH JEEP WRANGLERS, PLEASE DO US ALL A FAVOR AND GO AWAY! ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!! If you DO have a WRANGLER, get involved with the other topics, post some pics and have a good time. This is my last post with you as I am choosing the option of ignoring anymore nonsense from this thread. And yes, I live in the Hudson Valley in case you were wondering.
oarnage, I don't want to close the thread or block/ban users. If there was any illegal activity I'd like to see it stopped also. I think that most WF members in the area being discussed now know more about wheeling the 909.
The thread is now closed and will not be reopened. Everyone has had their say and it's done. WF does not condone illegal wheeling, but we will not allow unsubstantiated accusations against our members.
If anyone would like to open a discussion about how illegal wheeling, ie wildcatting, ruins the 4x4 community from the inside please post it up in the landuse area of the forum. It is a huge problem that we should all be concerned about if we want to continue to have places to enjoy our sport.
