Are you looking for real clubs or loose social/FB type groups?

It's been my experience that there are 2 types of groups. Groups that go off-roading. Where trail riding is the purpose of the group. Where the socializing is done on the trail. Those that are highly structured and organized with dues, insurance, access to private property for wheeling and then informal, social groups that meet for coffee, hang in parking lots and talk jeep stuff.

Can you do both? Sure. You can join a club the wheel and learn and you can do the social, coffee meets and hangouts.

If you're in Hudson Valley, and want to go wheeling check out Huson Valley 4 Wheelers. Great club and very knowledgable people. We wheel with them all the time.

Honestly, I'll probably go off-roading very infrequently... mostly interested in a local club to get together and meet for coffee, hang in parking lots and talk jeep stuff...

I'd be interested in both... Went on our first trail with our stock '17 JKUWW 6spd and got the bug for off-roading. I'm also impressed with the Jeep culture. I definitely make a point to do the Jeep wave when I see another Wrangler. Don't always get a wave back, but do most of the time. Any info would be great!

I am moving to the Hudson Valley area (Newburgh) by the end of December and I am interested in meeting some Jeep folks. I haven't taken my Rubicon out on the trail yet but am interested in doing so as well as the social aspect of it all.
