Looking for my 1st Jeep

I would like to purchase a 4-door, yellow, manual (6-speed) Wrangler and set it up with some nice polished steel wheels and slightly larger than stock tires. Are there any important performance or convenience differences between the "07-'09 model years? The Jeep will be used mostly on-road with some beach use. What size rims and tires should I purchase? Is it better to gain size with larger tires rather than upsizing the rims.? At what point do you have to lift the truck? Is there a good aftermarket source for wheels and rims. Tire rack seems to have a limited selection? would you paint the fenders to match the yellow? Thanks for your input.

:)I think the SAHARA mod in those years came with the fenders painted the same color, but

Finding one is a problem

Tire rim size has nothing to do with the tire size you pic (relative), if you get a JK 2dr then 32" tires are about the limit without lift (thats all you'd need), you can fit 33" tires with MODS, a JK 4dr will accept 33/34" tires with out a lift

You have to be careful with backspace dimensions and the need for "spacers", but that will depend on your choices

Tires are a little cheaper for 16" rim size, but thats changing, tires are real cheap for 15" rim size, but then you would have Brake caliper fitting problems, it's been done, but then backspace is important !!

If you're worried about cost stay with your wheels and look for some BFG A/T's and your cost will stay down

Good luck

The Jeep supply places are big into tires and rims. 4wd, quadratec - lots and lots and lots of choices. I always think it's worth buying their catalogs at the bookstore (or getting a freebie mailed, if you're patient). It's lots of fun to dog-ear the pages and make plans.

:) As Geoff says--

I've always had good luck with 4wdparts.com, cause they're close in Ca/Nv, but

First, search for the wheel that you want, then FIND a deal, but

Specify wheel diameter 15/16/17/18--and BACKSPACE-then buy, don't buy a set, just cause it's a good deal, unless the dia/backspace is right

Remember--looks-dia-backspace and a set of lugnuts for that wheel, you're set !!
