North Eastern Region(adirondacks)

Hey all, I am new Very new!! will have my Jeep wrangler unlimited in a couple of weeks. There doesn't seem to be much as far as trails around here.. I am Considering purchasing some land about 18 acres to build some trails.. Since I am new I would like to find out from your guys. would that be enough land to play on? I know it would only be like a day trip type thing.. but I think if done right it could be nice.. your thoughts are welcome..

It's a great idea...but will be a lot of work....the land needs to be interesting enough with obstacles and things to drive over. So finding the right piece of land is the first challenge. Then actually making trails will require chainsaw work possibly even heavier equipment...just things to think about.

Then there's the issue of insurance. Especially if you let others wheel on your property. Most will understand that it's at your own risk, but there's always that one guy who just won't get it and the first time he rips a bumper off or dents a fender he's looking to sue you...

Great Idea, for sure.
18 acres seems a little small, consider Rausch Creek is 3000+ acres.

You should go to Rausch, go to Anthrosite, join a 4wd club and go to events on private land through them. Get an idea of what makes these places awesome. Then see if your land fits the bill. Natural terrain is where it's at. You probably have a lot of that near the Daks,
