lets do it guys we need to make rockland county more fun because i do not know of a place to go off roading around here and i dont want to go to pennsylvania every time. so lets START THIS CLUB
Guys there is a Nova (4wd club assoc) meeting on Oct 24 10-2 in
Danbury, Ct 44 Kenosia Ave. There are 9 North East clubs in this Assoc.
You may want to check it out. www.nova4x4.org
Rubicon, I did checkout their site, seems like that could be a starting point, as far as ur opinion, what are the benifits with hooking up with an association, like Nove?
Well joining an Assoc. has many benfits strenth in numbers.
knowage of trails what's leagal and what's not. Events an assoc put's on.
How to start a club, Inc a club protecting it's members. learning from other people who have been in clubs ,again the do and dont's. tread lightly.
trails on Private land .Friends. Say a state or town wants to shut down a 4WD road well we will need many people to go to town meetings and write letters to try to keep that road open. The more people who ban together
the bigger your voice will be heard.cleanups of old roads are a good way to keep the sport alive.
Once you have a name. pick a good one.Remember a name "when you say I'm with _ _ _ _ _" should not confuse people.
Ex:Badlands Jeep club .Well you know it's a Jeep club
Bad lands 4x4 club or Badlands 4 wheelers well Are those ATV CLUBS?
Remember you maybe talking to a land owner, the town or state some day.
Have a meeting: elect a President, VP, Sec and Tres.
Dues? cost? Most dues now are $50 but you might want to start lower, but don't go to low.maybe try to ride with another local club see how they do it? bylaws all clubs have bylaws and most clubs have websites that list their bylaws online. It's oK to copy bylaws and make them fit your type of club?
Interesting feed back, good point about the name, once we get a few more jeeprs interested in joining, then we can go forward with a plan, would love to go to the nova meeting, but may not have enough people together by then, is that something I can go to by myself, just to gather info, or do we need to be eststablished to go to a meeting.
also any pointers on getting the word out in our area, thanks again for the imput
I'll pop in once in a while too. im pretty sure there is some good wheeling down there by you. ill do my homework. and i will ck out nova as well. only about 40 mins for me to danbury.
I'm in Suffern, right on the Mahwah, NJ border. I'd love to help with a jeep club I have a few other friends with jeeps that would most likely be interested as well.
I'm across the river in Westchester and am an officer in the north jersey jeep club. check us out we meet the 3rd Tuesday of the month at Warnock Jeep in east hanover NJ right on rt10 like 3 miles off 287 really easy to get to. Great group of guys and we wheel a lot
This is the club we started take a look around our website see bylaws etc. www.PatriotJeepers.com
1 Do you want it to be a Jeep club?
2 Do you want to just keep it's members in NY.
3 requirements tire size? min tire?
4 maybe attend a NOVA meeting www.nova4x4.org or check out the website and post to ask for info.
