Trails in Eastern Long Island: Southampton & East Hampton

If you know of any trails out here, I am all ears.

My contribution:
1. At 27E heading eastbound, turn left on Townline Rd. Go down road until you see the railroad overpass/trestle. You're now at a dirt road. This goes straight past the airport, past a big firepit and eventually turns into Division Street in Sag Harbor.
Note: Townline Rd also runs south, toward the ocean, and Townline BBQ is at the intersection of 27E. You want to pass this road (as you head East), as the section of Townline Rd you want is a few hundred ft ahead.

2. There are dirt paths beneath the power lines, which run from approx Newton St in central East Hampton all the way to Southampton. The easiest way to enter is from the dirt trail above (see #1). About halfway down that trail you'll reach a big, sandy, dirt filled area where the paths cross. You can turn left or right and be next to the power lines.
Beware it's fairly hilly, some rocks, and tons of sand. Nothing too deep though.

Subscribed. Do you need any permits to drive on these roads/paths? I'm from Nassau County. Thanks.

You do not. If you want to drive the beaches out there however, you will need a beach driving permit from either East Hampton or Southampton, for whomever's respective beaches you plan to drive on. Info below:

- East Hampton beach permit: free for residents. Link.
- Southampton beach permit: $20/yr for residents. Link.

3. Toppings Path in Calverton, NY (one exit past Manorville). Take LIE/495E to Exit 71. Turn right onto Edward S Ave, take first right onto Toppings Path. This runs until Rt-111.

I always walk by this trail on Sunday and i see people on dirt-bikes/ quads, sometimes trucks. Maybe someone else can advise on it if its legal, but i cant see anything online...but you can try Sheep Pasture Park in Setauket. There is some hills but good if you want to get a little dirty...haven't been able to explore it yet until my rig is set up (still in the works) but it looks like fun.

Coming from West OR East of LIE go to Nichols RD(EXT 62), take that up to wireless rd (Setauket), Make a right on 347/25A, left on old town rd, take it down till it forks and go right on sheep pasture rd, you will come to another fork in the road follow the Sheeps pasture rd. The entrance should be just before you get to Comsewogue Rd on your right that leads into power-lines. if you pass a tree nursery/ church and a daycare then you went too far.
