Wake up Vermont/ Off-road trails?

Hello fellow Vermonters,

As we all can see this forum is quite dead, and WE should change that!

I'm not sure how many Jeepers follow this and/or will see this, but lets build a community!

Anyway, I bought my Jeep almost a year ago and I haven't been able to find many places around northern/central Vermont to go wheeling. Does anyone know of any trails?

Thanks

Jack

I know quite a few Class 4 roads worth wheeling. PM me if you want details.

Do you know of any class 4s in or around Rutland county or Addison county my wife is from Brandon so I'm over there a lot and having some trails to ride would make my trips worth it

Town Highway Maps | Agency of Transportation

This is all you need. You can travel the whole state on these maps, just don't go alone.

This. And also get one of these Delorme New Hampshire Vermont Atlas & Gazetteer

Those two resources together will help you find less used Class 4 roads.

I don't know of any trails around Colchester, but there are several in the Cambridge/Waterville/Belvidere area 1/2 hour East of there. PM me for details.

Hi all,

Wheeler from Virginia here. Heading up to Vermont this Columbus Day weekend for 5 days of wheeling and exploring around the state. I've downloaded all the Class 4 roads from the Vermont Open Geodata Portal.

There are over 4,200 Class 4 roads in the state. Of those 640 are rated ‘primitive’ and 1900 are rated as ‘impassable’. I’m doing a Google Earth satellite view recon and it seems that many of these either just dead end, have ceased to exist or are gated off. My question is, has anyone been able to create an all-day driving route linking one Cat 4 to the next without having to backtrack and exit the Cat 4 road you came in?

Sure, you can link them. We do this often with our club (Vermont Jeep Association)
