Finally back in a Wrangler!!

Today I picked up my new (to me) Wrangler.

Many years ago I bought a 94 Wrangler brand new. I was on active duty in the Marines and finally decided to treat myself to a new Jeep. I drove that Wrangler for years and finally got rid of it for my 02 F-150 crew cab. I love my F-150 and it's been an outstanding truck. I still own it and it's still my daily driver but I wanted another Wrangler to drive to work on nice days.

In January of this year I bought a 95 Wrangler as a project. It needed front floor pans and the rear frame rail patch by the leaf spring. But I scored it for $1000.00 and figured I'd take my time fixing it up. Well that never happened. I decided that after doing a near 10 year restoration on my 72 Z/28, the last thing I felt like doing after work was diving into another project, so the Wrangler was sold. I've been Jeep-less for the past 7-8 months but I've been all over eBay and craigslist looking for something.

Last week I finally found this: It's a 94 Wrangler with a 4 cyl and a 5 speed. It has 210,000 miles but the previous owner who was also the original owner had receipts for a new motor being installed at 156,000. When the did the new motor they also did a new clutch. In May when the Jeep was PA state safety inspected, it received a new exhaust from the manifold back including a new catalytic converter and 02 sensor. It als received new rear brakes and drums. The soft top is only a year old and the tires have tons of tread. The good news is that the Jeep was always garage kept and the owner knew the value of cleaning the frame and undercoating the floors. The frame and floors are rust free and solid. There is a small rust hole at the bottom of the passenger front fender but otherwise the Jeep is as solid as a rock.

The previous owner listed the Jeep for sale at $3000 and didn't see any action due to the high miles. He dropped the price to $2800 and I emailed him hoping to score it for $2500. When I got there and saw all the receipts plus I checked the floors and frame rails, I was totally prepared to pay him $2500 and walk out but I figured what the Hell, I offered him $2300 cash and told him he could keep his US Army seat covers and spare tire cover. As a former US Marine those items were going to be removed anyway. Since I had cash in hand and was prepared to make the deal immediately he accepted. I brought it home tonight and cleaned it up and of course installed a US Marines front license plate.

I'm stoked to finally be back in a Wrangler. This time I'm not letting it go. This one will stay. I'm going to drive it to work on nice days and weekends with the top down. One day, I'll re-do it for my 9 year old son to drive but for now it's mine to cruise and enjoy.

Thanks guys! I can't tell you how glad I am to be back in a Wrangler. My F-150 is a great daily driver and my 72 Camaro is a great car show/cruise night ride but I really missed the rugged fun of rocking a Jeep with the top off.

I drove it to work this morning with the top off because it was going to be such a nice day.

Thanks for your service, I wish I could have served but Medical Issues kept me out. My Step Father was a DI at Parris Island Towards the end of Veitnam . I also took a break from wranglers and came back after a few years. I love the color BTW
