04' 4.0 random overheating and misfiring
this has happened 3 times already ive had it randomly reach temps like 220-230ish ussually when offroad once in city, ill shut the engine off let it cool a little turn it back on and itll misfire even stalled once before, the last time i got a code cylinder 3 misfire. What is wierd is after starting it a 2nd time and driving off it always goes back to normal. I know my thermostat is fine, i have checked my oil to make sure its not milky or above level (ive had to add a little coolant after the first time it happened was just hoping it wasn't going to the crankcase). Coolant looks pretty clean i have never changed it since i bought it over 2 years ago so i dont know the last time it was changed I tested it with a refractometer and its above the highest temp rating... maybe it needs more water? but wouldnt i have had an issue sooner? someone told me maybe try replacing the radiator cap but i doubt thatll work. i dont know someone give me thier input:atomic:
