To remain within the Wranglerforum.com rules, donít post your own ad or someoneís that you know.

This is a fun thread. It gives a lot of insight about regional pricing and condition. Plus, it has pics!!!

I will start with this one.

Why could this not be closer to me?

JonStevens 10-19-2018 08:17 PM

Wow.
That is about 1 hour from me. Buy it, I will drive it to your house for you.

Gottagofast 10-19-2018 11:42 PM

Really? Pretty rough looking 4 cyl for almost 4k....
None for me thanks

ChuffHugginLoognat 10-20-2018 12:57 AM

If it's too good to be true on CL, it's probably too good to be true. Still, wire them $1000 downpayment; they'll be back from Africa next week to deliver it to you. One of those ads is already flagged.

Luckymac 10-20-2018 10:57 AM

LIFE RULES....

1- Men don't understand women.
2- If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
3- There's more, but those are the main ones.

Further down the list is 'Check the wind direction before you pee'.

Good Luck, L.M.

Oh yeah, for the rest of you old buzzards out there "Always go to the bathroom before you get into the Jeep".

Coming from 4x4 trucks, I like this bumper. I like the old school bulky awkward look to it. It looks better with the CJ front end than maybe it would on the yj.

If he drops the price, I may guinea pig it. I doubt many people would want it?

Gottagofast 10-22-2018 10:10 AM

That won't fit a yj... thankfully

JonStevens 10-22-2018 07:55 PM

at least it ainít purple...

Not a steal but not to overly priced either.

Here in California, a 1976 or newer vehicle needs to pass smog, and that wonít pass with a v8 and headers. A vehicle can only have an engine swap with an engine that was available in that model for that year. This Jeep would not be able to be street legal.

And maybe the guy sold it and didnít remove the ad.

Gottagofast 10-27-2018 09:13 AM

Also claims 700r4 but pic shows a th350 kickdown cable

One of the reasons I left CA. No smog check in this part of Nevada.

This is a totally false statement.....
You can swap an engine from any model into any model.
The rules for swaps here are tight, but doable. It has to be from the same class of vehicle (no truck motors in cars), same year or newer, and it must retain 100% of the factory emissions equipment. Then it must be inspected, at which point the car should get a BAR sticker, which a smog station can scan when they're doing the smog check.
Just did mine, 1995 YJ with a Chevy 5.3L Vortec, 4L60e transmission and new custom welded exhaust with 2 cats and 4 O2 sensors. All original from a Chevy Avalanche.
Passed with flying colors.

XBD 10-29-2018 08:53 AM

This thread would be a lot better if you uploaded a screen shot of the ad..all the old ones have been removed and are not view-able anymore.

Very very nice! The underside of that hood has nicer paint than anywhere on my entire vehicle.

A car is a car, a truck is a truck and a Jeep is a Jeep.
An Avalanche is a truck. How did MannyN get the California smog Nazis to approve a truck engine in a Jeep?

Just wondering.

BTW MannyN, that swap looks outstanding.

Good Luck, L.M.

Gottagofast 11-01-2018 10:54 PM

Many states consider a utility vehicle w no, or removable, rear seat to be a truck.

Maybe in 1995, Jeep offered a Chevy engine option?

Gottagofast 11-02-2018 09:25 AM

They did not

"This posting has been flagged for removal."

Makes me wonder if this was yet another fraudulent CL posting?

MannyN 11-02-2018 10:31 AM

Mine is registered as "LTD", so is a Chevy Avalanche 1500.

"Light-duty Trucks" (LDT) - any motor vehicle rated at 6,000 lbs. GVW or
less which is designed primarily for purposes of transportation of property or is a
derivative of such vehicle, or is available with special features enabling offstreet
or off-highway operation and use.

I think having the EFI already installed makes that more desireable to some folks. A/C is tasty too. Very clean Jeep.
