Newbie lookin for info
I'm new to the jeep community, and I'm looking for some best practices when buying a yj. I'm looking at a 1988 wrangler 4.2L automatic for my beach cruiser and my girlfriends commute car. She has a 3 mile commute. The most off road use I'm anticipating is on the beach in the summer for fishing. No mudding planned for this ride yet.
What should I look at to make sure I'm not buying a total POS? Also, the crank bearings are making some noise. How ridiculous is the repair on that? I'm handy with a wrench, but I know my limits. (it's not the ball bearings, but the slips on the crank)
Howdy and try to get a 91 or up YJ.
