2000 Wrangler 4 cylinder rpms

I just purchased a 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sport with a 4 cylinder and factory air, 5 speed. I was wondering about highway cruising. It has plenty of power and rides well at 65 mph however, I did notice it was staying around 2800 rpm's at this speed in 5th. I was just wondering if that is normal and if the engine is designed to run longer distances at that high rpm. I was expecting it to be under 2400 so it was a little shock. By the way, first time Jeep Wrangler owner. The jeep is very tight and has 100,000 miles on it. Thanks for any information.
