Dad had a CJ-5 in college (way before me, but got the bug started) and later on he had a couple of XJs. My first time 'working' on a Jeep was my btother's CJ-6 and what led me to my love of them. I was 6 or 7 and I've been reading 4x4 magazines since I could choose what to read. In high school my dad had a YJ he bought to teach my me how to drive stick and to have had a backcountry vehicle in the UP (Michigan). In high school I bought a '98 ZJ which I had until I couldn't afford to replace the axels and transfer case so, I traded it for a car. 15 years later I'm back in a Jeep.
As a teen, I used my Dad's tools/shop and my own ingenuity to fabricate my own light mounts and switch plates for the ZJ, long before we have the awesome things on the market today. I miss my ZJ, she will always be my favorite Jeep, but the JKU will be a well used escape.
