I bought this critter from a guy in Rochester Indiana. He told me it needed a new muffler and I figured that I'd found a deal. Only $4K for 160K miles!! After a new exhaust manifold, pan seal, rear seal, and muffler, and head I'm good to go.
1997 Wrangler TJ (Black)
Standard 4 cyclinder, but it's not the original. I was told by the seller (who was the second owner) that the original engine was blown and a dealership had installed this one.
Original seats are in great shape. The first thing I did was pull out the back seat and belts. Who needs more passengers? More cargo space is nice . . .
I sanded away some rust on the fenders and started doing body work right away. The passenger fender is mostly bondo and magic at this point. Inoticed J.C. Whiney sells steel fenders for $80 each. I may just have to invest . . .
Just an AM/FM CD so far. The 2 meter amateur radio and police scanner are in! (Be sure to get an amateur radio license before installing the scanner in Indiana...)
Wheel and Tire
Nearly bald stock tires on rusty old rims. May have to upgrade before winter.
