So I've been chatting with the local dealer and he did a locate on exactly the JKUR I'm looking for:

6pd, heated seats, black hard top, connectivity, billet

Now the question is, is it worth giving up the $3250 Jeep incentive to hold out for a '14?

I know there isn't too many difference other than signal light, evic and mat retainer clips, but does it make sense to wait for a '14? I mean, if I buy the '13 it's a year old right after I buy it off the lot.. Will it lose more value than a '14 would? Would that value be equal to or more than $3250?

I know there is the argument that I could have the '13 immediately, but if it makes more sense, I would wait for a '14. I'm also contemplating the granite color, but I'm thinking that would be a touch too dark and wouldn't contrast correctly with the black fenders and top.

Any thoughts/opinions/advice would be appreciated. Would you take a '13 or identical '14 and if so, why?

Just ask yourself how long you plan on keeping it forever that leans toward 13 and it will save you some cash on one you want.
Do not want to wait a few months? 13

Want new floor mats, evic? Newer colors? 14

I do not think you will go wrong with either.

I see you are in Canada. Who knows what you will be able to get as far as the 14s go. Life is short. If you do not care about the evic, get the 13.

I was in the same boat for the past view weeks. I wanted Orange Crush or Gecko but of course they are long gone so I was considering waiting for the 2014's for the new colours to become available. My local dealership couldn't give me Canadian pricing so I decided to go with a 2013 and got a total discount of $6100 off a $39,000 JKU. I was going to order a 2014 with just dual top and auto but my 2013 has alot more options and I'm very happy with my decision.

That's an excellent discount. Mind if I ask you what options you got and what province you are in?

tough call....
I know it can take awhile for the Jeeps heading to Canada to get built/shipped. How much of the summer do you want to enjoy?

If you are going to keep it for more then 4 or 5 years I would get the 13 check the blue book on a a 5 year old vehicle and not much different then a 6 year old vehicle of the same model.. You can switch the turn light lenses for peanuts and matt retainer clips who cares? not sure what the change in the evic is going to do for you but it is not going to make your drive $3200 more enjoyable.

depends really on what you get the better deal.... $3250 is a nice amount to get off of the vehicle, but its really not that large of an amount. remember also the 2014s are starting to show up at some dealerships now, so i think there should be ALOT more wiggle room when it comes to getting a 13 model.

I myself am going with ordering a 14 model for 2 reasons... i cant seem to find a good deal here in SoFla and the second reason im really liking a few if these new colors that will be available to order within a week or so..

I'm not really concerned about the summer.. I'll be ordering with a hard top only and pick up some goodies over the winter including a trektop nx and maybe some soft doors among other things.

My bigger concern is that the perceived drop in value on buying a '13 when '14s are right around the corner may not be worth the $3250, and that's assuming there are no incentives to purchase new.

Does anyone remember when they released the '13s what kind of offers Jeep had then to attract customers?

That's a good point, and I think I'm going to use this info to push for a bit better deal. The only problem is the '13 and '14s I think are essentially the same so I'm afraid if I push too hard the dealer may say "Just go ahead and order a '14 and give up the incentive".

Rubi's here aren't like other models and sit around on the lots for too long..

I'm really curious about the new colors as well and would love to see a copperhead JKUR. I think it would look sharp with the black fender flares and top, however I don't think I can wait until September to order.

Well you do have more then one jeep dealer in canada i take it ? if they don't want to work with what you want to spend on a 13 try another dealership.

if that fails then go to one that you feel semi comfortable with and make an order on a 2014 the way you want it... thats what i plan on doing myself, because for some reason regardless that the new models are arriving the dealerships around my way refuse to budge at all on pricing. perfect example i spoke with a dealer about 10 mins away from my house. he had a commando green sport he was asking $33,XXX plus tax tag and title... that would have been close to $35K or so.... i made them a very reasonable OTD offer they refused they want what their asking for the vehicle. yet for that amount i could throw another $2k more down and buy a 2014 rubicon at a dealership about 2 hours away...

As for the new colors copperhead is definitely one of them that im interested in. you don't have to wait til september im under the impression from what i read as of yesterday that they SHOULD be available to order by the 9th of august. you make your order and have a 6-8 week wait and then you get your new jeep.

Good luck in whatever you do. please keep us updated !! :thumb:
