I just replaced the bracket connected to the power steering pump along with the belts. Now I can’t get the belt to tighten on the power steering. I can pivot the bracket from end to end but I don’t get sufficient tension. For the hell of it I decided to pivot to the point with the most tension and start the engine to see how it ran. It ran, but not without squeeling quite a bit. The belt was as tight as I could get it by adjusting the bracket position. I couldnt find good videos or instructions on how to tension it.

Does anyone have experience changing the V-belts on the 90’ Yj 4.2?

If I truly did get the correct belt but still have issues with tensioning it due to some unknown reason, is it practical to just buy a belt a little smaller than the spec calls for, and tension it by adjusting the bracket?
