Stumbled across this poor jeep in need of some love as it was retired on beachside here in Florida after an older gentleman brought it from Colorado and had put it out to pasture by his apartment unable to keep up on it and the brakes locked. I made a quick deal on it and brought it home... in hindsight I should have done my looking in the daytime but nonetheless its here and time to get 'er back on the road... and offroad.

First order of business was look it over better and fix those locked calipers and the power steering pump had gone out as well. Few rust issues and discovered no track bars or sway bar... not only missing sway bar but the bolt sheared off in the bracket.

The good in all this was that the motor has a fairly new core of only 10k on it so at least it runs and shifts well.

Added some wheels

Found a good deal on some cheap wheels and tires 33x12.50 so I trimmed the fenders, blacked them out and squeeze them under.

Little meatier now and losing some of that mail jeep look.

Roll bar change out

Never was a fan of old school roll bar so I sourced a family bar from the local junk yard with belts for $100. The previous owner found the sway bar and few other parts like rear seat mounts, window trim, battery tray hold downs and the SWAY BAR had quick disconnects so score there.. whoo hooo!! LOL

Added a bumper and some rattle can spray

Since this thing already had a coat of rattle can on it I decided to go ahead and wire wheel off some rust and prime cover up some of it with... more rattle can of different colors! Meanwhile a bumper and bikini top arrived in the mail I scored off ebay.

Found a spot of rust under the fender flare.

While throwing on that paint I decided to pull the fender flares for some more I have ordered and discovered a rust hole. Think I may find some used fenders and do a high fender cut to them and fit those 33's a bit better. Meantime, ground out the rust and primed it and kept on painting since I started it half way... trimmed up and put on some aluminium diamond plate to help cover it meanwhile.

Added some Racks

Added some seat covers, and dug out some old surf racks for the hard top and plasti dipped it black. Previous owner apparently had a wooden rack he built and drilled holes through the top to mount it so I reused the holes. I also scored a $100 900 lb brand new winch and roller for the bumper!

This is how the dog rolls in it, LOL!
