My stock 1990 YJ - 4.2l 6 cyl and 5 speed is leaking fluid and the clutch master cylinder runs dry. I cannot see any signs of leakage from the master or the lines. I suspect that the leak is coming out of the slave cylinder. Two questions:

1. How do I identify which transmission that I have - AX 4/5 or AX 15?
2. My manuals say that the transmission needs to be removed to replace the slave cylinder - is there a shortcut or do I need to fully remove and drop the transmission?

Thanks! Ben

Thanks - my info is that the BA transmission was only installed thru the 1989 model year and that the 1990 then has the AX. Anyone confirm this?
Thanks!

Ibuildembig I about posted exactly the advice you gave me in another thread - the ax-5 was never behind a 6. Love that and so easy to remember!
