Help... We are newbies. Son and I recently bought a 93 YJ, 4 banger,stick,
hardtop with P215/15 street tires on American Racing 8x15 alloy wheels.

Recent upgrades (replaced wornout stuff). Standard battery,oilsending unit,
valve cover gasket, coil to plugs tune up with oem parts. fuel filter,freeflow
cat and muffler w/ stock dia pipes, diff cover gaskets,K&N element,steering shaft, Rancho steering damper, Rancho 5000 shocks, and 2" shackel lift
for 30-31" M/Ts.

Next step is 31" tires, body work,dash speakers and ...body work includes
replacing windshield frame, tailgate, window seals, floor panel (drivers side)
and rocker panel on drivers side.

This is fun, and we havent been off road yet.....

Did we forget to look at something??? At this point we need to stay within
the guide lines of the house approprations committee = MOM
(excuse any missspellings these brands are still new

Welcome aboard fellas. Sounds like your well on your way to building yourselves a nice project. Only thing that I might look at would be all remaining fluids if you haven't already replaced them. Also might just drain and refill tranny if you haven't done it. Otherwise you all have done it up pretty well. If you get your tires and find that they are still a little too close for comfort for ya in the wheel wells you might just want to pick up a 1" body lift to gain that extra little clearance you need.

So how does it run after you have done all of your maintenance to it?

As a recent addition to YJ owners group I know that feeling of having a "new to you" Jeep. I've wanted one since my father sank his 90 off North Topsail Beach and we never saw it again. Finally, 13 years later, I have my own and I'm extremely happy with it. Even if it has broken down for one reason or another at least once a week.

Congrats, and welcome! Looks like I'm no longer the newest guy here, LOL! I just got a 92 and have done many of the same things you have. I did install a 2" shackle lift (4"-over shackles), and stock 15x7 wheels fit fine with 31x10.50 tires. I had to adjust the steering bump stops to keep them from rubbing in tight turns (they were hitting the back of the springs) but that was it. Next step for me is dash speakers (already here from Ebay) and stripping the interior so a buddy can Line-X it for me. Carpet? Don' need no steenkin' carpet! :) I got lucky and didn't need any rust work on mine, so I can concentrate on the "fun" stuff. The only thing I can think of you may have missed from having worked at a Jeep dealer years ago - assuming it's a 4.0, buy yourself a new OEM crank position sensor and keep it in the glovebox. That sucker goes, you're dead in the water...just like the ceramic ballast resistors of old Mopars - and there's no in between, either. Works, or doesn't, without much warning. But have fun with it - I sure have been! I live 11 miles from work, and in a month and a half I've put an oil change's worth of miles on it. Wish these gas prices would come down....

I might suggest looking at the driveshaft straps and univ. joints. Its a cheap fix and a pain to have to fix on the trail. Also your brake lines, sucks when you try to stop without brakes.

Thanks guys for the responces. The project is at the shop as we speak, hope to get it back soon, Next step is polishing wheels and putting some mildly agressive tires on it. Probably
30-31" on 15" existing rims (7"). We will bring them back to the
shop and go to work with tape measure to get the optimum size
to fit (with only a 1- 1-1/2") lift and still stay within budget
and not slide off wet pavement. Initially majority of the time will
be on pavement---but dont want to be stuck all the time when he does go in the dirt. Thanks again, every part of the project is a learning opportunity.

My dad was that cool about the CJ-7 when I was younger. He just didn't know about it all the time. :D :D :D
