I need advice on trying to figure my 99 TJ 2.5 engine problem. I have a strong intermittent miss. The idle is some what rough. The engine cranks easily. I've replaced fuel injectors, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, exhaust manifold gasket, and inspected the exhaust manifold for cracks. The miss occurs at varying speeds usually around 1800 rpms. Under load the engine normally and will stops upon acceleration. I've spoken with several mechanics and all have a different diagnosis. Has anyone had a similar experience.

First thing to check is injector harness connectors as for some unknown if you switch two injector harness plugs (3 and 4 commonly put on wrong) causes a miss around 2000 rpm

The injectors fire sequentially but intake valves really time air fuel entry, but for some reason getting injector firing sequence wrong on the 2.5 creates an rpm dependent persistent at that rpm miss

Check the wire colors to insure correct ones on correct injectors
