Hope everyone is doing well. New to posting, been learning a lot on this forum, so thank you for all the info so far.

Just got a 1999 Wrangler sport 4.0 I6, 5speed manual, all stock and very well kept. I used the search function and need a little more advice. Looking to do a few simple things first:

1.Stereo...It has the basic am/fm radio, what stereo's are simple plug and play upgrades, nothing fancy, even just a CD player and/or Bluetooth. Might do a back up camera, but probably not, so don't really need a big screen or anything.

2. Headlights...looking at doing LED lights, not halo, are there any solid plug and play brands, or do they all require adapters and rewiring?

3. Wheels/Tires...will other years/model stock wheels and tires work. Here in the bay area, I can find great condition factory set ups on CL for cheap. Everyone wants to upgrade their setups. What the the plug and play 5 bolt wheels that will work?

4. Seat covers...since it's cloth seats, are there durable water/muck proof covers that people really like, that fit well. I take the dog up to Tahoe and out hunting and fishing a lot, so they need to handle some crap.

Thank you for any help and advice.

1) Try crutchfield for the stereo, they supply all the harnesses and mounting adaptors you will need. I have a Pioneer media center, no CD that I love, has bluetooth and RCA outputs for fronts, rears and sub.

2) headlights, lovd my Trucklites, if in the north consider the heated ones. I live in Iowa never a problem with non heated.

3) i have Coverking seatcovers fit nice, not sure on water, just gog them and havent gotten them wet yet.

4) when i was running stock height i went with 31x10.5x15 BFG ATs, nice tires for road and some wheeling.

Hope that helps get you started.

Wheels are five lug 4.5”spacing. Like Squatchy said there are adapters to make it 5x5 if you want take off jeep wheels.
Look on Quadratec web site for ways to part with most of your money.
Led lights, https://www.quadratec.com/products/97109_0020.htm
I like these quite a bit. I’ve got a set on my jk and soon my tj will have a set. The wife is getting them for me for this Christmas.

Seat covers https://www.quadratec.com/categories/jeep-interior/seat-covers?ka=seat covers
Neoprene is HOT. I like the cordura seats. Cool and slide in and out easy.
Stereos. https://www.quadratec.com/categories/jeep_audio_electronics/in-dash-players?ka=stereos
Quadratec has always been good to me, and I’ve bought $1000’s of stuff from them. I’ve got two Jeeps and trying to talk the wife into another one. The more you buy the better the discount they give me.

Welcome to the forum!,

CRUTCHFIELD all the way. They hook you up with everything you will need to make it plug and play. I bought this waterproof Kenwood one for pretty cheap, has lasted very well so far: https://www.crutchfield.com/p_613KM318BT/Kenwood-KMR-M318BT.html

2. Headlights...looking at doing LED lights, not halo, are there any solid plug and play brands, or do they all require adapters and rewiring?

Not a big fan of LED headlights in these old jeeps, doesn't look right to me. I upgraded from the stock ones to the HELLA halogen ones: https://www.amazon.com/HELLA-002395...ocphy=9011572&hvtargid=pla-436283225945&psc=1 and put some brighter bulbs in them. Huge upgrade from stock for a good price, and retains the classic looks of these TJs.

3. Wheels/Tires...will other years/model stock wheels and tires work. Here in the bay area, I can find great condition factory set ups on CL for cheap. Everyone wants to upgrade their setups. What the the plug and play 5 bolt wheels that will work?

Already answered above. There are some cheap ProComp wheels online ($70 each) that a lot of people put on. Or JK wheels with adapters.

4. Seat covers...since it's cloth seats, are there durable water/muck proof covers that people really like, that fit well. I take the dog up to Tahoe and out hunting and fishing a lot, so they need to handle some crap.

LOVE my Bestop seat covers. They are a vinyl material so that are pretty water proof. They have a hole on the side that will let water in, but for the most part they are water proof. And they don't get super hot or soak up water like neoprene do. Also they look classy af in my opinion.

Thank you for any help and advice.
No problem. Welcome to the world of jeeps

I had a '99 Sport between my LJs. It was cute.

Enjoy the build.

I agree with the headlights, except for the exact model. The JK version have the pulse width module (PWM) to eliminate the flicker on the canbus electrical system and the H13 to H4 plug conversion. The TJ version lights are identical but do not include the PWM. Those fog lights fit the JK only.

Here is the link for the Quadratec GenII lights for the TJ:
https://www.quadratec.com/products/97109_0000_14.htm

I had the ecode housings with Osram bulbs in my TJ for years and while they were better than the original Wagner sealed beams, they would not hold a candle to the LEDs that came with my 2017. The QT GenIIs are as good on low beams and better on high beams. No way I would willingly go back.

After I had my TJ painted I went with Quadratec Rubicon Extreme 16" wheels in black. I considered going with 15" (Rubicons came with 16" wheels from the factory) but decided to stay with original LT245/75R16 size tires.

The only complaint I have with Quatratec is they have way too much of my money. Their customer service is second to none and they only have Jeep parts. There website is easy to navigate by which Jeep you have and then the catergory of parts.
