Ran across a 2000 wrangler sahara with 96000 miles on it.
Auto trans.
Only photo Ive seen so far in a side view of the interior. No tares or stains that I can see, in fact it looks rather clean and well cared for. More photos and info have been asked for, but I wanted to come here and see if anyone can tell me what the sahara of that year included?? Is there some place I can look up that info?
How many more mile can I expect from it assuming it was well cared for and not abused at all?
The asking price scares me but I will hold my tongue until I get more info from the seller....

So....any help from you guys? Anything and everything in this would be great.

I had a 2000 Sahara which I sold last year.

It included a 4.0 6 cylinder, painted fender flares, CD player, speaker bar, two-tone green/tan seats, full metal doors, cruise control, tilt steering, hard top, and that really cool sticker with the palm tree. I miss that sticker. I may be forgetting something.

Not that this has any bearing on the one you are considering, but mine was a very reliable vehicle which served me well for the four years I owned it. It had 63k when I purchased it and never gave me any real problems. Assuming the 4.0 six has been properly maintained I would expect plenty of life left in the motor at 96k.

Please send me a link to the for-sale ad, and forget you ever saw it. :)

But on a serious note, the avg TJ is good for 200k+ miles without any *major* problems given the previous owners weren't careless or total morons. His asking price is probably high because TJs hold their value well. Check it out on kbb and carfax/autocheck.

UTWOLF: a 2000 Sahara is an excellent Jeep, it was the top-dog Wrangler for that year and came loaded as was described above. About the only options you could order that did not already come standard on the 2000 Sahara was the heavy-duty Dana 44 axle, auto trany (which the one you are looking at has), and the duel-top option. The Sahara also had unique seat fabric and seat colors.

Check the floor and frame for rust. Test drive it at highway speeds to be sure the suspension does not have issues, check the 4WD hi and low operation on dirt/grass, and do not pay over NADA retail. good luck.

wow

This was an ad I saw and like I said before it only had one photo as stated above. I have requested more photos and info. cause the ad was very short with no real in depth information....
THE SCARY PART.......they are only asking $4400.00
I'm thinking it doesn't run or something very bad. Heck at that price it might even already have sold.
Hope to get more info as today rolls on, but from all your posts it sounds like I should jump on it if its for real.

Just got a reply about the jeep.
photos look amazing.........but here is the weird part
they want to sell it through Amazon. ( for security of both seller and buyer)
I don't think amazon has this kind of service. Do they?
Deal is $4000 and that includes the jeep being delivered with 7 days to check it out and decide.
I think this is one of those things you always hear about......to good to be true, run away...

I was thinking the same thing. A 2000 Sahara, 96k mi, in good condition is a 9-11k vehicle. I couldn't find anything that resembles a vehicle transaction service on amazon.com either. :nonono:

As above. I've owned two 01's and they were loaded. Miss the palm tree decal, too.

As to the sale ad, run. There's so many creeps harvesting pics from previous CL and other ads and attempting scams. A clean Sah can still approach 10k in the early years, and get a line of suitors to buy.

Caveat Emptor friend :)

I'm smelling the same odor similar to road kill......but I'm going to play their game a little and see where it leads.

It seems to be a legit vin# as carfax has 19 reports on it, but im not sure at this point if I am willing to spend 40 bucks to chase a ghost.

Tell him you want to pay cash and pick it up in person. Guaranteed you'll not hear from him again.
That's funny......I wrote the person and said I had friends near by and to give me a phone number and address so I could have them swing by to look it over, and have not heard back from them...
To funny

100% total scam!!!! Last year I was looking at a 2000 Sahara w/auto with just under 100,000 miles and they were asking $9800. They ended up selling it for $8500.

I had a 99' w/auto tranny. Great vehicle. No problems at all.

i have a 2000 sahara with 149000 miles and still runs like a champ! It certainly helps that previous owner hauled behind camper so alot of miles are tow miles!

seems WAY too good of a deal
