I've had 31in tires on my stock 2004 TJ since 2011. Without any modifications to my Wrangler, how high of a tire could I use? Is there a limit that my 4.0L could efficiently push down the road? I'd like to increase the size of these next tires.

Agree. I'm rolling 31" with stock gearing. Tried 32", not good.... don't go any higher with the tires until a regear would be my recommendation.

That depends on if you have crappy 3.07 or 3.73 gears.

If you have a manual (NV3550) and 3.73 gears, 32x11.5 will be acceptable. If you have the 42RLE Auto or any other stock gear ratio, 31s are your limit if you still want to enjoy driving.

Applies to 32rh auto transmission as well (prior to '04).

Prior to 03'. The 97-02' 32rh trans with 3.73 gears will pull 33s just fine.
