In the last month I've been getting this tin-can-kind-of rattle from my engine bay area in my TJ. It only seems to happen when the engine has just been turned on(Even if it's still warm, for some reason).

What I'm assuming it is, is those "tin can" looking shields on the exhaust headers. I recall a couple of them breaking loose on my 2000, though they didn't make a racket.

My question is, what exactly are these for? Can they safely be cut off?
