Really? That vague huh...

Well it could be many things. Does it knock at all times? Or does it knock on start up and go away when the motor reaches operating temperature.

Does the knock get louder as rpms increase?

Is your oil pressure reading normal?

Is this a 4.0 or 2.4 engine? How many miles? Which transmission? Any CEL trouble codes? Has the motor ever run dry of oil?

4.0, 190K, no codes, never run dry, oil pressure is normal, it a constant knock, it does not get louder only faster as RPM's increase

First you may want to track down where it's coming from. Use a long screwdriver or pipe as a stethoscope from the valve cover to the bell housing.

Before diagnosing it as a rod or crank bearing, look for an exhaust leak or loose torque converter bolt. You can easily remove the transmission dust shield to check those bolts. That's if you indeed have the 42rle.

Engine knock, suspension knock, transmission knock, transfer case knock. This is about the most vague question I've ever seen here. May as well ask what that round thing is.
