I was reading a catalog for antique Jeeps and ran across a tech tip from a mechanic that recommended drilling a 1/32 hole in the plunger of a new replacement thermostat before installation. The reasoning was,,,, as I understood it to provide a re-circulation pathway before the engine coolant warms up and opens the thermostat during normal operation. The other benefit of this mod was to allow any trapped air that might be in the cooling system to escape to the radiator overflow and out of the cooling system.. I wonder if anyone has thought about this mod for a new/ slightly older Jeep?
