I have 2012 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited..my question is can I install the hardtop on the jeep without removing the softtop? Can I just lower the softtop and the hardtop fits on top or are there screws and parts that need to come off? Getting ready for first winter replacing the softtop.

You should take off the softtop before putting on the hardtop. They are not meant to be on the Jeep at the same time.

Whay jay said. It states poretty clearly in the manual that if you leave the soft top on and install the hardtop, you can damage the soft top. The corners of the header will rub on the hardtop and put holes in the material.

You wouldnt want both tops on even if you could without messing up your soft top. You have hardly any rear cargo space with the soft top down in the back.

Not to mention a bar across the open back...

Yes! One thing I do like about the hard top is the flip up glass. Makes getting into the cargo area a lot easier than that stupid bar and dealing with the rear window and zipper.

So is there anything special about the soft top that comes with the hard top if one got the dual top option? Just wondering because the soft top is under the hard top.

They pack it extra tight, just enough that it will fit under the hard top. It's only done for shipping.

Okay thank you. If someone gets a jeep with the dual top and they plan on keeping the hard top on for a while, are they supposed to take the soft top out in a certain amt of time to avoid damage?

Yes, it says in the manual and on the orange tag wrapped around it to pull it out ASAP. On 3 dual tops I've bought, I ended up doing it the weekend after I bought it, it's usually OK that long.

You want to get it out ASAP. Leaving it in can damage the material and Chrysler won't warranty it. Basically as soon as you get home with your new Jeep take it out or remove the hard top.
